The website MMOSite.com analyzed the plausibility of the rumor that Blizzard’s next MMO Titan will be based on Halo. The author called it “An Analysis of a Rumor”. Assumptions are based on a speech which was made by a Blizzard official in a Interview:

Actually, it resulted from a speech made by Blizzard’s co-founder Frank Pearce in an interview with North American media. According to his speech, Blizzard’s new MMORPG, which is called Titan, will be set in the Halo universe. Halo is Microsoft’s Xbox 360-based game that has sold tens of millions of copies all over the world.

during their investigation they found three clues which lead to it. The first clue is, that Ensemble Studios members shift to Blizzard to work on Titan after the disbandment. The seconed refers to the former relationship between Ensemble Studios and Blizzard. And the last one is the rumor that titan will be a sci-fi MMORPG.

There we have it guys, pretty much confirmed as Halo.

Why would the give one of their biggest IPs to a competitor, especially when they already have 343 developing a game based on said IP?

Rofl @ at the Ensemble studios stuff. Nearly all of them are at Robot Entertainment or Bonfire Studios & the small fact that they only worked on Halo Wars.

Thing is, if it's sci-fi and involves ranged weapons (assualt rifles etc.) then yeah you could say it's sort of like halo. But then it's sort of like many other sci-fi shooters.

If it's on the ring world with lot's of other ring worlds... not going to happen.
