I'm just sorting out a graphics card for my bro which will connect to his Panasonic LCD tv and I was just wondering if the HDMI output on a graphics card has audio as well?
I have a gut feeling it does not but could someone confirm it for me please.

I've been looking at the cards and I can't remember the res his tv is but thought the 6870 range would be fine.

yes pretty much all graphics cards with hdmi outputs do, though the audio they support differs across the ranges. the good news is, the 5 and 6 series ati cards support everything from 2 channel stereo right up to dolby TrueHD and DTS Master audio bitstreaming :)

Fantastic thanks for the reply.
The card is the HIS ATI Radeon HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-021-HS

Would there be a better choice or is this ok. I've no idea on cards as there are so many to pick from.

That depends on his uses. Is it just a media center? Or gaming machine with TV out for movies?

Its just for gaming and movies.
I purchased a Beyerdynamic DT880 Premium Semi-Open Headphones 600Ω and a NJC Audio monitor ii headphone amp so for late night stuff he can connect audio leads from tv to amp as well.
He also watches the odd dvd movie.
