Any Idea why I'm only receiving 2mb/s when downloading via hotfile and rapidshare, I also get lag with some youtube videos and online gaming (MW2) I use Avast free AV and Windows Firewall.

I've also used Cisco Speed Meter Pro to make sure, and it says 2mbps 100%. What am I doing wrong, what can I do ??

Sky LLU or Sky Connect?

With its cant be connect as the router sync speed is 12Meg,

0neAnd0nly,
First off i hope you are testing with the cable connection,
Wireless is all ways slower than the cable,

Also have you checked " netstat " to check the number of open connections ?
Open up command ( windows key + r ) enter cmd and press enter,
In the command windows type " netstat " press enter,
Count the total number of lines of information,
There should not be more than 10.

Also check the speed from good sites like speedtest.net maidenhead server or speed.io

After that you might want to check the line for line stats,
Things like fec, hec and crc errors with cause thoughput to suffer.

I cant say how you get the detailed stats up on the router and 1 i am not with sky and 2 not sure what router it is you have, netgear , sagem , Dlink

But sure get back to us for more help ;)

So are you downloading at 2 Megabits per second or 2 Megabytes per second?

Neither makes much sense on a connection which is running at 12 megabits per second.

Not sure if hotfile or rapidshare are the best sites to download from to test your connection speed either. I don't have an account with either but maybe speeds are faster if you do.

Traffic-shaping probably. I'm not with Sky but I hear they aggressively traffic-shape downloads.

Its more there connect package that suffer big time from traffic management,
Any of there LLU package are not that bad,

How ever there was a few exchanges having thoughput issues as the end of jan but as far as i know this is all sorted now,

We cant say much until the OP gets back with the line stats and findings of the other tests i advised of.

Have you had any disconnections lately?
Could be your BRAS profile has lowered and will just go back up after a few days.

Online gaming typically uses very little bandwidth compared with other applications. If you are hosting the games then maybe it will be an issue. You should get any extra lag regardles if the line is 2 Mb/s, 2MB/s or 12Mbps.

Maybe the problem ahas gone away and the OP has got some resolution.

If I were the OP I would probably be speaking to Sky if I were actually connecting at 12 Mbps and only getting a 2Mbps connection speed not OCuk forums.

i had same problem as you. even sky told me i was getting them speed. and 5 internet site were apparently lying.

changed to virgin problem fixed

must have spent days on the phone to them complaining they just dont want to know
