Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

http://social.bioware.com/forum/Dra...Looking-to-be-better-than-BGII-6103836-1.html

Some replies from visibly younger gamers are so baffling with idiocy that I wanted to ram my knee in their stupid skull.

This new generation of gamers truly annoys me.

Unrelated though, here's two reviews of DA2 from german magazines:

PC Games gave it 88, pros and cons:

+ very well told hero story
+ varied followers, each with their own stories
+ great dialogs with moral decisions
+ exciting boss battles
+ martial-arts-fans should have great fun with possibly the fastest (or fast paced) battles in a fantasy game

- ...but old-school RPG players might have their problems with the flurry of activities in battles
- limited class progression with fixed skilltrees
- poor level design with one-to-one copy-pasting of whole quest areas (do they mean, some areas are a carbon copy of each other???)
- unsatisfying ending

Gamestar gave it 87, pros and cons:

+ thrilling storyline
+ great dialogs and quests
+ coherent / consistent game world

- some fiddly battles
- less epic as DAO
Much more deep and with an awesome story and characters, this will be the game to take the throne from BGII. just look at how amazingly relevant and deep the skill tree looks, compared to the redundant and overfilled mess that was BGII abilities.

Half the games coming out this year look to be better than BG II.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I can't wait for this to come out. It looks like it may be a dumbed down version of the first, but I've got the signature edition on pre order anyway :D

I played the first start to finish completing everything you can, with a couple of things missed due to messing up by leaving an area that you can't get back into once you have :(

Doing that gave me a character that was so overpowered for the expansion it was silly. I can't remember exactly but on the expansion you get a character that's about level 20 to start with, and my mage was almost 5 levels above that. I doubt it's something thousands of others haven't done, but it's so much fun casting storm of the century and wiping out an entire area :D

The one thing that does bug me is that the upload to the bioware page didn't work 99% of the time. It still showed my character as being about level 10 or 15, but showed unlocked items beyond that level. I have no record of my character now as my hard drive got wiped on a new O/S install (forgot to back up my save games and character saves :()

Hmm, confused now with regards to one thing - the signature edition contains:
Coupon code to get the Day 1 DLC for free
Download Code for the Soundtrack
Exclusive in Game Items: Might of Sten (2 Handed Sword), Apostate’s Courage (Staff), Adder of Antiva (Bow), Seeker’s Bulwark (Shield)

And now there is a separate pre order bonus in the form of:
Fadeshear
Improves with each level-up
Causes additional damage vs. demons and the undead
The Lion Of Orlais
Adds to health
2 rune slots
Adds to % XP gain

So does the signature edition come with those two items as well, or did Bioware pull a fast one on us?

It wasn't worth trying to understand the preorder bonus items for DA:O and they seem to have made it infinitely more pointless this time round. Apart from the real DLCs i wouldn't bother about it, just download them from torrents shortly after release, someone will make a compilation of all the available ones. It was ridiculous how the regular CE got the 3 bonus items yet the DDE didn't.

Apparently if you bought a signature edition with amazon you will be out of luck but everywhere else you will get them all.

Platform specific content is a joke but this crap about getting stuff because you bought the game from a particular shop or at a particular time is worse. Even if you can't add the content to the game like you could with Dragon Age: Origins I'm sure there'll be a helpful mod containing all the items floating about fairly quickly.

I'm confused by this post, are you saying that it isn't as good as the first because you have to button mash or because it's harder to succeed when button mashing?

Apologies if it wasnt clear!

Its not as good as the first all round, it felt arcadey...

It was akin to Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance, running about munching buttons to attack....

It was easy with basic fights to succeed button bashing, and you pretty much had to, no way about it...

With the boss fight, as i didnt have that much time, i attempted to see if you could get away with basic bashing buttons to win, that failed, however if you just delay your attacks with a bit of running for health regen, you can bash till your hearts content.
No real indepthness of tactics, no real feel of control in situation, bit of a mess for bashing.

The story cutscenes were reasonably impressive however, which is the only reason im going for it! While the gameplay may be less than perfect (I was thrilled with DAOs classic throwback style) im hopeful the story will make up for it...

Lol at those quotes about half the games coming out this year being better than Baldurs Gate II.

Well, I know one game that came out thats as good - Magicka. I wouldnt call it better though with how small the game is and with so little character customisation.

Why cant they just make another BG game going back to AD&D2 rules with updated graphics? Oh yea, I forgot, whenever any game studio tries to remake any game with better graphics, they also severely dumb it down like mad.

And then they blame pirates for their games not selling.

:o If the signature addition doesnt come with all those current extras I'm canceling and torrenting this crap. The DLCs I mean, I'll buy the game when it goes cheap instead and download all the in game DLC junk. Bioware / EA are just a comical joke with all this pre order nonsense!

Always buy the game but never the DLC is my motto, otherwise we might aswell pay modders!. What's the difference between a dlc and a mod, pretty much nothing!

I'm really getting sick and tired of all these 'special pre-order' versions of games....its akin to tactics used back in the 70s/80s aimed at suburban housewives. Same principle, get the masses worked up over special deals with different retailers on new products and they'll go into a frenzy. I thought people had wised up to this kinda thing by now...:/
Do EA and other publishers really think that we as gamers are that daft??

...oh wait

Personally I'll wait til the game is cheap (goty version or whatever).
Patience is a virtue and it also saves you a load of dosh in the process!

Im more interested in boxed collectors editions, not DLCs.

I like fancy boxes and physical goodies inside, I'm not bothered about the DLC.

But according to biowares site:

http://www.masseffect.bioware.com/info/

Pre-Order Dragon Age 2 before March 8, 2011 and you will receive access to additional in-game content at no extra cost. This offer is only good till March 8 so pre-order now!

Pre-order before March 8, 2011 and you will receive:

Access to exclusive Magic and Crafting Stores
