She's a woman and has children the most it will do is school run and tescos and strIght motorway miles

I have no idea what these things cost but cant you get a Q7, X5, VW thing or anything better then that?

Q7 is well out of budget ropey examples seem to start in the mid 20s x5 is out as I'm not a drug dealer tiguan/toureg is a good shout though although I think the toureg is a bit more on the pricey side and more complex therefore more likely to offer scary bills

So why the need for something that does a standing quarter in 13 seconds? Why stomach the massive extra costs associate with that level of performance for what seems like no benefit at all?

Fair enough if you were a partner at Goldman Sachs :p

Fox you need to read the rules of my marriage to appreciate my situation
Rule 1 the wife is always right
Rule 2 if the wife is wrong refer to rule 1

She initially wanted. New shape rangerover after she picked me up off the floor and I rubbished them a bit ( I spent a bit of time at JLR when I worked for ford) we agreed to look at more sensible/ cheaper alternatives I'm aware of the running costs but I don't see anything to suggest it's going to be say double that of the lcr at most I demon a 40-50% increase over current ie it's a big simple v8 no Air suspension brake parts are online with those of her lcr the only thing I could see offering up a big unexpected bill is the auto box
What am I overlooking here(apart from the fact it's going to be made from the cheapest plastics known to man

That your wife appears to have grown a set of balls while you've only managed a mangina?

Seriously, if she's wants a chelsea tractor tell her to buy it, service it and fill it up out of her own pocket.

I would be very supprised if running costs were not more than double a Cupra R.

Running costs for a year, for the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8, assuming it's a year old and with 10,000 miles on the clock. This is based on 10,000 miles a year:

Depreciation: £10,994
Service and repair: £511
Road tax: £435
Fuel: £3,354

Total costs: £16,897

Assuming you average the claimed potential economy, that is.....

Well how about the LR Discovery with the 4.4 or 5 litre Jaguar v8? Having driven both the Disco and the Grand Cherokee (diesel versions) I would not think twice about choosing the LR. It was infinitely better made.

Get a Cayenne, miles better to drive, same consumption, better badge, just a better car.

I think you are deluding yourself if you think any of these are going to be reasonable to run, so might as well just get the best one.

My old man had one for a few months (mad company car) and said it was awful. Felt like the chassis was broken and a horrible thing to drive.

just a passing thought , how does the 300c come out in terms of running costs, reliability and general ocuk hate?

looking at a few 300c srt's atm and seem a just as fun proposition as the cherokee but maybe slightly more sensible?
