Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

it's definitely improving. If you can get past the first few hours (or even 5) it's not bad at all.

I am still slightly disappointed, but not as much as i was. My opinion on the game is certainly going up the more i play it.
Characters still aren't great though.

there should be an extra option in every dialogue tree- "Just **** off Anders"

Whats it like playing if you haven't played the first one? or is it worth getting the first one and playing that then the second?

it's definitely worth playing the first one as it's a great game.
But i haven't actually noticed many references to the save-game which you carry over, just the odd mention:(

I wouldn't advise playing this one first, as there is a chance that it might put you off Origins:)

Aside from odd mentions here and there you get a number of side quests that depend on what you did in DAO+A. Oddly, Zevran, who was my romantic interest in DAO decided jumping into my pants would be a grand idea -.- (apparently this has something to do with saves not importing properly from the previous game).

My Anders was a blood mage in Awakenings, but despite importing my save he is very anti-blood magic for someone who previously used it. Hypocrisy and selective amnesia!

Just got the high res texture pack, makes a big difference :)

Better than the first IMO, I just wish I still had the save of that game to import into this

Trying to figure out whether it was possible to kill Anders off in Awakening. If so, I wonder how they'd explain his comeback given an imported game save :P All in all, it feels that being a blood mage character in DA2 hasn't got as much of an impact as in DAO (where you had to sacrifice someone for it, unless you cheesed it with the save/load technique). Given that DA2 is all about blood mages, it's a major problem for me. Bioware could have resolved this better (and if EA didn't rush them, they probably would).

The main problem with this in origins was that on your first play through you had no idea how or where to unlock the specialisations. You could be near the end of the game when you unlocked it or miss it entirely so I understand why they chose to have them all unlocked at level 7. I think they should have probably had a quest given to you when you hit level 7 to unlock them.

wrt anders, the devs said that even if he did die they were bringing him back anyway. Plot ressurection same as many characters in BG2.

I thought the story and graphics were better and the companions had more depth to them. I find the combat a bit more enjoyable than the first although i would have preferred smaller, tougher groups of enemies rather than swarms.

I imported my DAO and awakenings save, and in the DA2 codex it reads that the hero of ferelden died while killing the Archdemon, yet no such thing happened in my DAO playthrough? I did the morrigan gold child thingy! Does DA2 not change at all with different saves, or is this a save screw up?

Anders is a ****ing derp, I wish I never had to use him but he was the only companion with any real healing capabilities, he needs to go die in a fire, so does Aveline and Fenris.

My only real problem with this game is that some of the characters are just plain morons. Now, i'd rate some of the characters in BG2 as morons but the problem lies with the fact that characters such as Anders are really necessary for a decent playthrough on a high difficulty, whereas in BG2 there was often an alternative.

I hate being stuck with morons! Fortunately he's the only character i feel stuck with.

Damn :/ You reckon that means we have to restart to inorder to get the right save import?

Sorry mate I've no idea but I suspect you'll have to wait for a patch. Anders and Aveline are definitely annoying (Anders less so than in awakenings), why merril doesn't have access to the creation spell tree boggles the mind.
