Euro Millions, Tuesday 10th May Draw

I think you are the one who doesn't get it.

If there is the same chance, it makes economic sense to pick numbers that will result in high winnings (hence the randomness of LD), rather than playing sequences like 1-2-3-4-5-6 because that means that even if you do win, the jackpot will be shared.

I know what your saying, picking a common sequence you shoot yourself in the foot in the very unlikely event that your numbers come up because the total is always going to be shared, but regardless:

1000 people play the numbers 1 2 3 .... and those numbers come up
Everybody walks away with .1% of 80mil = 85 000

1 persons plays an entirely random set of numbers a b c etc, the numbers 1 2 3... come up
Walks away with nothing

It doesn't matter what you COULD have won. At the end of the day, your random permutation has won you nothing, while the 'idiot' is chowing down on a cool 85k. In the example where the so called 'idiots' have won, you have, necessarily lost. Could have won 85 mil, actually won nothing. Could have won 85k, actually won 85k

if i won i think this would be how i spend it

mcmillan = 5 million
family = buy them all house's and give them all some money

the id buy me the wife & our son a nice house ect

id allso sort a few friends out with new house's car's ect

Assuming I would win around £60M or so I'd buy my favourite car - Nissan GTR and buy my friends their favourite cars and go on a road trip around the world for a few months, staying in the best hotels and doing the best things in each country, it would be awesome!

Then I'd give about £5M to my mom & dad, £100k to each of my friends, family and people I know. Store the rest (£50M) in multiple high interest bank accounts which would work out to be roughly (at a 3.5% interest rate) £36k a week, £145k a month, or £1.75M a year.

With that free money coming into my bank account I'd rent a 8 bedroom house where me and my friends would live, kit the house out with everything we've ever wanted, huge cinema room, heated pool, garage for our cars and so on :p

But having so much money, more than I could ever need, would probably cause me to be bored with it, so I would most likely become a philanthropist, giving back to the community and donating to charities around the world, basically doing something productive and helpful :p.

To be honest, I've never been a materialistic person, so I wouldn't buy expensive useless things, like clothes worth thousands and art. I would buy the things I need and maybe treat myself to a few things but nothing over the top!

And yes I have thought about this quite a bit haha :p

I can see where you are coming from, but it still makes sense to play random numbers as opposed to a sequence.

The chance is exactly the same, so if they win, that's just bad luck. Sure, 85k is better than nothing, but 85 mil is also better than nothing. I'd rather play for a shot at 85 mil than 85k when the odds are exactly the same.

Got a lucky dip for tonight! I'm pretty sure it's a winner so dont get your hopes up! :p

I think the best way of disguising it would be by saying "Ah i've inherited a bit of money, from my great great nan." or something.

I would, donate a large chunk to charity/scientific research, maybe 5 mil?

Build myself an epic house in Colchester, complete with recording studio, sub-tropical swimming area like centre parks with hot tubs and stuff, gaming room, basketball court etc.

Buy a few cars, and of course, sort my family out for life :)

It's a charity. Or are you asking why?

yeah why?

does the national lottery not already make billions in profit and give money to charities, why give some of the winnings away too?

why not just buy 100 cancer patients whatever they wanted? just giving it away blind to a charity who in turn already get billions every year, is just useless.

You would be crazy to give your mates money, as soon as they blow it they will be back for me.

I would pay their mortgage off and set up them up a business, buy a car/holiday

if you have mates like that, i wouldnt call them mates ;)

also like 90% of new businesses fail within their first 3 years or something like that, so your actually just ******* it away, instead of them on something they want

Man now I understand why gambling is so addictive. Added a fiver credit, one for the euromillions and 2 other crappy games. Glad I only put a fiver on there.
