I was on my way home from a mates place about 20 minutes ago, and went through some temporary lights to be confronted by some unrepeatably moronic person trying and succeeding to shine a green laser into my eye from another car (a Peugeot 307 estate). I slammed the anchors on when I passed them and blasted the horn. At this point they tried to shine it in my eye by reflecting it off the rear view mirror (again with success).

Now my right eye is slightly hard to focus/blurry.

Luckily I had the sense to get their registration, and have called the police. Whether they manage to catch up with them or not, I don't know.

I was given a reference number by the operator, and was recommended to have my eye checked out. I'll wait to see what my eye's like in the morning and go from there.

With regards to finding out whether they collar the tit that did this, do I wait for them to call me, or do I call them?

So angry right now.

There hasn't been any evidence to suggest that such lasers cause any damage to eyesight. Even still, a dangerous thing to be at. Hope the 5-O catch up to them.

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot?

Be so tempted to 'accidentally' collide with them......be an interesting case, that one.

I almost pulled a u-ey, but the missus stopped me. There were other cars around, so hopefully someone else witnessed it.

I hope they get a kicking too. My eye definitely feels weird. Almost like I'm wearing a very weak reading glass on my right eye only. Similar to when you get an annoying lump of sleep over your pupil in the morning.

We had someone doing this in Reading, where the old hospital used to be, they were hiding on the roof of the ambulance depot, if I remember rightly they got the book thrown at them when they were caught, turned out to be someone who I went to College with.

Glad you called the police on these losers, total idiots. Its these kind of people who do the exact same thing to me, but whilst flying an airliner! I kid you not, I've had a handful of attempts at lasers being shone into the flight deck at night. We always report it to ATC with as best a location as we can. They then give the info the police to try and catch them.

Idiots. How the hell people think it's a good idea to try to cause an air crash is completely beyond imagining.

I might ring the local police in a couple of days if I don't hear anything. I hope they find them.

Erm, yes there is lol.

Researchers report that green laser pointers deliver light that is brighter to the eye than red lasers, but the infrared light emitted by some inexpensive models could damage the retina of the eye.

Considering red lasers are brighter than staring at the sun...

They assaulted you, the police should follow it through as its their job but the are lazy ones that will try and get out of work, ive encountered them, I believe im correct in saying you could also take out a civil case against the offendant (sue them)

Aye the green laser pointers are considerably stronger than the red ones.
Wouldn't it be classed as ABH/GBH?

If the police do nowt, you have the reg and surely you can go from that and sue them for any costs you incurr?

C'mon it could have impaired your vision enough to cause an accident, Morons :(

Hope yer eyes alright mate.

Do guys wear protective eyegear now because of this, just curious?

Could damage != will damage. There is no conclusive evidence that it causes damage.

There is definitely evidence that lasers above a certain class can cause damage to the eyes.

The issue is whether the laser used would have been of sufficient power to do so.
