Bad Company 2 blue screens

I'm getting BSODs in Bad Company 2. It's very erratic - it's the one where the audio goes crazy at the same time. Sometimes the PC blue screens, other times I can End Task bc2.

Sometimes I can play for an entire day (literally 12 hours) without a crash, other times I'll have 2 in 2 hours.

My GPU is no longer overclocked because I thought that might be the issue, and no other app, benchmarking tool or game does this.

Any ideas?

daninthemix I have the same issue.

I have been trying to work out what has caused it for days.

What drivers are you using?

I just have 2 critical events from the last two times I had to force a reboot (hold power button) due to crash and/or blue screen from Bad Company 2.

Am using the latest (non-beta) Nvidia drivers.

I have heard a few people say Bad Company 2 doesn't like on-board Realtek soundcards, so my next test is playing it using my external usb sound card and see if that helps.

It should provide more details than that. Driver name or something?

Edit

Sorry, misread. When you next get a BSOD check in event viewer, it should provide some details about what triggered it.

I use an on-board Realtek sound card, and I don't get any blue screens. The only issue I have is occasionally I drop to desktop when joining a server. :(

Is that the information associated with a forced power down or a BSOD? I've had a quick google and there seems to be many issues that trigger the kernel power message. Most seem to be related to drivers though. Is absolutely everything up to date?

Try get the information associated with the BSOD. Hopefully that will be more descriptive and be the underlying cause of the lock-ups.

I get all sorts of problems with BC2 if I run my card at the factory shipped overclocked settings. Lowering the core clock by 10Mhz fixed it. I don't have any trouble playing any other games at the default speed though.

Speaking of BC2, I wanted to play it last night it took me 15 mins before I could find a server, with having the disconnected from ea crap and having to log in numerous times for it to work.

I really hope Battlefiled 3 doesn't keep those problems :(

Had a similar issue myself after a fresh install of windows a while ago, any intensive upload activity would cause my PC to lock up, also happened when logging into WoW + Doing a speedtest.

Turned out it was the LAN drivers. Really random issue.

Actually it happens every time I format.
