I'm currently torn between an alienware m15x and the msi gx6606

alienware is:
i7 740qm
4 gb 1333mhx ram
320gb hdd ( i'll put in ssd)
15 inch screen 1600x900
cd/dvd rewriter ( i have external blu ray)
nvidia 460m
£900

msi gx660r is:

i7 740qm
6gb 10066 mhz i think
15 inch screen full hd ( doesnt bother me )
2x 500gb in raid 0 i think there 5400 rpm
bluray drive
ati5870m
£1001

All help appreciated

thanks

If you want gaming the MSI has a slightly better card.http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-460M.33612.0.html

But, consider the quality of warranty and cost of warranty extension on either since if spending this much on a laptop you want it to last.

Alienware has next day on site 12 months and you can extend to 3 years for a reasonable outlay (which if you purchase after you can haggle down in price with dell quite a bit)

Hey, thanks for reply. its for gaming yeah. i do have desktop but currently im running round after my 6 month old baby so i need portability as its certainly not safe where my desktop is for now. so £1000 is really what i want to spend. ive already ordered the alienware but i can soon cancel it thats no issue. i actually paying £900 with the tact mouse. i thought i had covered everything when i ordered then i found the i7 660r.... only thing that puts me off is build quality but i can get round that as i loved my gx740.

i need to know which is the better in the next few days as i really cant make my mind up

cheers all

i bough the alienware in the end, its a month old with the i7 840 and blu ray with full hd screen. still got over 300 days warranty, and my msi was easy when it neede repair, they sent me email with ups details then i arranged for collection 2 days later and had my laptop back in 4 days. was a very easy process

hmm im gonna have to look into that as i just put in the service tag and seen there was 327 days warranty remaining. i'll go for a little look now to see what they say, i hear you can buy extended warranty from dell also. happy with the laptop though, i can honestly say at 1920x1080 its easily as good as the 5870m at 1650x1050. and it's also a much clearer picture even in 1600x900.. temps are 15 degrees less @ 69 celcius in black ops for hours with the lot turned up @ 1600x900 the 5870 used to reach 88 sometimes but mostly 84 and resat the gpu and cpu and had an enermax cooler underneath. im very pleased with the alienware so far seems pretty strong. just ordered seagate momentus xt to see how that fair instead of the 320gb alienware drive...
