50+swimming

I agree with this though, older people may be intimitaded to go swimming when there is a lot of younger people fooling around.

I agree, im 50+ and dont wish to swim with younger folks (would make an exception for ladies though - perv I know) ;).

If you're 50+ you have probably paid into the system for 34+ years already and may feel entitled to a little consideration; Im sure you youngsters will feel the same when you get to 50+ too :p

I hope I never reach 50+.
I bet you also tell kids off in the street for kicking a ball.

one thing about old people in swimming pools that ****es me off is there's always one who goes just deep of the middle where you cant stand you have to tread water and swims ****ing widths when you and others are trying to do lengths.

it's why i only go when they have either the full or partial set of lanes out now :p

As a woman, esp one who has only just stopped looking like a curvy hippo in a leotard when wearing a swimsuit, I have to say I find it uncomfortable swimming in a non-female-only swimming session.

I can understand why people who are starting to get / are older, slower and more wrinkly would feel much the same way.

I wonder if any of you men out there would be happier in a men only swimming session!?! I certainly wouldn't be offended if anyone started one up!
What a RANDOM first post!

The last time I went swimming a few years ago now, my friend and I popped into the pool at the gym expecting to blast out a few laps only to find some oldies stood in the relatively small pool having a chinwag and nothing more. My friend and I decided we weren't going to let this stop us, so we decided to have a race to the end of the pool and back. Needless to say, my friend and I are somewhat competitive and the oldies got a splashing. They weren't impressed but there were man-points at stake. If they want to sit and have a natter, there was a perfectly good warm-pool and a jacuzzi they could've gone into instead of standing in the main pool for show.

Oh, and I lost the race by fractions of a second. Git.

it ****es me off too that they close down the pool for these people.

There is MORE than enough time for over 50's to go swimming during normal work hours when everythings empty but no they dont go then

If you start splashing people cause they don't move out the way, and they're clearly getting annoyed do the under water flip to turn round at the end of the length. People think you actually know what the hell you're doing then and that they're getting in the way of someone training etc and bugger off :p

Yeah cause no one over the age of 50 works?

Oh, I did the pool-turn thing too. I just remembered to flail my limbs about as I came back to the surface.

Yeah, take that Mildred! How's that for a day out the house?!
