UK ticket wins £161m EuroMillions Jackpot

Just keep it quiet, then.

Seriously though, how would you? Journalists would find out one way or another. Your material possessions would be a dead giveaway. Having recently graduated I'm pretty sure people would get suspicious if I suddenly acquired a fleet of ridiculous cars - or even just the one. You'd have to be so discrete which would be virtually impossible.

I've got a feeling it will either be a filthy, dirty chav or some really charitable old couple who give most of it away.

I played a lucky dip and have yet to check my ticket, heck I didn't even look at it, just bunged it in my wallet right away.

I'll check it at lunch tomorrow and if it is the winning ticket I will drop a large turd where I stand and grin myself home.

I'm going to get my moneys worth out of this draw and not check my ticket until tomorrow.
Going to bed as a potential millionaire; wake up and check it tomorrow = millionaire fail :)

Yeah totally - why not? People are going to buy a ticket for £2m as much as they are for £160m. In fact, if the odds of winning a big chunk of cash are a lot higher, more people might buy a ticket?

they lowered the euromillions odds and it created this 160mil jackpot and the previous 100mil+.A lot more people buy tickets when the prize is higher; people dont care for the odds.

The authoritarian socialist in me thinks that the lottery jackpots should be capped at a couple of million per winner, and there should be no rollovers (all prizes distributed across most numbers matched).

Think how create it'd have been to have 84 new millionaires across Europe rather than one with £168m.

You do realise the inherent issue here. If you cap the winnings at 2 million and always distribute the prize money you would never get a pot of 160 million. Its a lottery, the fewer winners, the more people who play. If you looked at the prize fund it wont have gone up by 10 million a week, it will have grown exponentially.

Curb the jackpot and you will end up with very few people playing and as per the real one, one person will match all the numbers and take the jackpot but this time it will be 2 million in total rather than 160.

Think the lottery depresses me more than anything else. Just a constant reminder that I could have millions of pounds, and virtually no worries for the rest of my life, but don't.

They created twelve of them last night anyway
The excess prize fund is spread over lower combinations
Previous draw with no big winner created four of them iirc

Big jackpots make more play, good policy for the change

I often wonder how it must feel to win, to wake up and know you are and your family for god knows how long will be made and have all the normal money/job problems people have gone.

Just trying to think of how it would be blows my mind, waking up and not going in to work on the following day and how I would make my exit in style, go in burning my uniform or something :D

Also know that the time it takes to call camelot and for them to come out and verify it, just you and that ticket left alone would be some of the most nerve wrecking moments of you life. Sat looking at it until someone comes out, not answering the phone or door and not letting it out of your sight :o
