***The Official LG Optimus 3D Thread***

I have no issues with it now it took me 2-3 days to adjust but its fine now, the sweet spot isn't that major I have no problem watching stuff, I still say I can't go back to watching 2D stuff now on it.

The latest update fixes the 1080p video camera so it looks much better and it is 30fps it seem LG slipped that out before it was released and updated it.

The battery is my only gripe with the phone its terrible currently but am sure Gingerbread update will help with that a bit.

Had this phone a week and a half and still using it like I did the first day maybe this is why the battery gets hammered so much, don't suppose it helps watching so many films on it :D, lots of good things on youtube 3D to view also,

The 3D resolution isn't as high quality as watching them in 2D but the extra depth it adds in 3D makes up for it and its a more enjoyable seeing things as they are in the real world with depth, I found the Samsung demos on the net and it has some Avatar footage and that looks great, the things popping out the screen never bothers me as it doesn't really do that in the cinema its the depth it adds which I like.

I even had people on the bus asking me today if it was 3D as they saw it behind me, in the end had to let them have a look at it, never had this sort of thing happen on any phone I have ever had before, every person I have shown it too start looking and a smile comes on there faces and they say " god its 3D that's amazing" not one person has been disappointed with it yet.

We all like different things and this isn't a gimmick for me its something I will use a lot, and its got the added bonus of having the latest OMAP 4330 Cortex A9 and is the first and only phone thus far to feature dual-core processors, dual channels, and dual memory, on quadrant on a stock rom I am getting 3270 which for a stock rom is pretty impressive.

Im one ;)

tbh i dont think the environment i was using it in helped at all. CPW had some annoying florescent lighting that reflected on the screen. It was just hard for me to get the sweet shop and stay focusesd.. Was 100x more impressed with the photos in 3D than the sample movies (again probably weren't that great of movies) I found them dodgy 3d menus really annoying and unnecessarily as well sort of like an extra step to take you away from the Android UI.

Games were just rubbish (as expected) I want to see what something like Avatar looks like before i write it off, but from you expressed in previous posting i was left wanting..

Still thought the pop the photos had was impressive

Trying phones in a shop is rarely the same. The handsets are usually dodgy and you can't really 'try' it properly.

Very true indeed, It wasnt one from a demo stand though it was one that i asked theat they had in a sealed box. Still a rubbish enviroment mind

We cant all afford to get the latest phones sim free phones just to try robbo ;)

You can do things to help you get it right, the 3D slider helps you get the 3D sorted better for your eyes and you can adjust L/R or R/L, some things off youtube are bad and I can't get it right sometimes, I was watching some mountain bikers today and skate boarding was really impressed with that.

There are some really good ones out there and plenty of movie trailers to view and as you say the games don't look anything special but I never expected them to, sorry I got your hopes up to much lol but I am happy with mine.

Did you try taking some 3D video as its pretty good and as you said the 3D photo's look good also.

You could do what Jabbs does and order them and then send it back before the 7 days are up. If you're seriously considering it, that is.

i did have a go with the 3d recording but i had trouble playing it back and finding the sweet spot :(

Exactly what I was just about to say Phones 4 U on-line were brilliant, i had 7 days from delivery and I did that with the Sensation, just wan't impressed with that phone a big let down for me, phoned them up and they said take it to a P4U shop and return it, no charges etc just don't open or mess with the sim they send with it.

Strange I have no issues with it, took some footage at sisters on weekend to show them and all of them saw it straight away and had no issues getting it right, but the 3D slider is there to help you set it up for your eyes, but it might be the case your eyes can't deal with it properly as people are getting those issues with that style of 3D screen.

For me when I tested the 3DS that is the exact problem I had I couldn't get the 3D right no matter what I did it didn't look that good and I was disappointed and I preferred it in 2D, this was in a currys store though and it was there test model from over the counter and the sales man was hovering over me.

I had this phone as a test and thought its not going to be any good after using the 3DS but straight away I could see the effect perfect and I thought there is no way I am sending this back, and the added bonus its superb in direct sunlight I can see the screen perfect.

I just loaded the performance pack on mine with a rather snazzy theme for it from the Optimus 2X and that does make it much snappier but I don't use the stock LG launcher its launcher pro for me

well ill probably go down that route for the next upgrade ;) Is this getting 2.3 anytime? Honestly i find it hilarious how people care so much about what version of android is on. Yea its nice to have latest but honestly it doesnt make a slight bit of diffrence only having froyo over gingerbread

As Robbo said October for the UK on this and they are releasing small updates regular which is good, and you are right I can't tell any difference having Froya on this over Gingerbread on the GS2.

That's because there isn't really much difference between them.

You'd only notice a few small things if you compared the stock Android versions, with all the custom manufacturer bits added on it's hard to tell anyway.

Yeah I guess its small tweaks they do but it should have had 2.3 on really from scratch, well its time to put more clips on just got another 14 to view :D.

That happens with anything that isn't commonplace and a novelty. Think the initial months ownership of a Wii back when they came out, then suddenly the novelty wears off. :p

The tech is impressive, but I think it will take 3rd-gen parallax before it's really worthwhile.

I think no one will expect a 3D phone hence the surprise its the most fuss I have had over a phone :p

Its worthwhile now it looks good and adds depth and lots to the viewing, what's not to like about it :)

Its a treat recording some video and looking on the screen as you are doing it and seeing everything is 3D rather than just flat, still surprises me 2 weeks down the line, this is more of a multimedia device than the GS2 was to me.

Anyway I talked enough in this thread about this phone so no need to any more.

Well, I have an expectation in my mind of how it should look, if it's like that or better I'll be impressed. We'll see.

My dad loved the 3DS 3D effect when he had a go on it in a shop so I'll have to see what he thinks too (I thought it was ok but the screen was a bit small). If I don't like it and he does, I'll give him it probably.
