Had it done yesterday & spent the day indoors with the curtains closed. From the moment I awoke this morning I could tell straight away my vision is vastly improved, the clock radio on the other side of the bedroom was crystal clear, looking out the window I can clearly see people moving about in their kitchens in houses on the other side of the valley about 200m away. My vision is already better than it was wearing glasses & the healing process has only just begun.

Going up to the lasering place later for a check up & for them to tell me if I'm up to drivng standard but I must be. Tried on my glasses & they are now useless! Got a nice pair of Gant shades which had prescription lenses ground for them, they're only a few mths old but getting standard lenses fitted will cost more than a new pair. Bit peeveed as they cost £120 but after wearing designer glasses for the last 15yrs I'm going to enjoy getting hold of a set of cheap knock-offs from somewhere & actually being able to see through them :)

Spotted myself in a mirror through a doorway in another room & it was weird seeing myself clearly at such a distance without glasses, I thought it was a handsome intruder :D Eyeball specs below:

Right 1.75 - Left 2.00 (slight astigmatism in left eye)
Wavefront using mechanical flap done at Optical Express

I know its awsome, best money spent ever.

Did you enjoy the smell of the flesh burning?

Woop.

I had mine done, they used this really cheap version, they got their parts from here, they said I could buy one for around £10, plugs in by USB they told me its called a Laser Mouse. Got one on delivery :D

Jokes aside, I don't really like the idea of anything being done to my eyes, whether it be Eyedrops, Contacts or Lasers being shot in 'em

Did you enjoy the smell of the flesh burning?

That was rather unnerving.

The most uncomfortable thing was after "right eye complete" they moved onto my left & I think the numbing eyedrops had worn off a little by this time. I became quite agitated as he was pulling my eye open to get the ring on & both the nurse & the surgeon were trying to calm me.

Apart from that it went fine.

Wow, sounds kinda scary. They don't put you under?

As asked above? How much does it cost?

I'm not even wearing glasses, but I can imagine I will need to at some point and would perhaps prefer this right off the bat...

£2150. Saved £600 by having a mechanical flap cut instead of it being done by laser & also had £150 knocked off for being referred by a friend's daughter (she'll get a cheque for £150 too).

Sounds very good price wise and yes while it maybe an initial outlay the money you save in the long run on new glasses will surely pay for itself. Plus the hassle of wearing glasses will no longer apply.

Mechanical flap!! Can you open it now? :)

I assume this is them cutting the front of your eye open like a flap and zapping through the hole?

The alternative being shooting the laser right through?

It must be a great feeling, I can tell you're really happy with it :). I can only equate it to the first time I wore contact lenses. Its like seeing the world in a whole new light. I spent days reading signs and number plates with disbelief that I'd been missing out on perfect vision for so long.

Had mine done in June. Best 2k I ever spent. LASIK with Wavefront from Optical Express here! :)

I am long sighted in one eye. It is not noticeable to others and I can still see, but I would love to get it corrected. Been told it cannot be lasered though. :(

Would love to not wear glasses, but I'm just not man enough to have this done :p Lasers + my eyes = bad gut feeling.

Just had 1st checkup & read the bottom line of the chart!

The guy says I have better than 20/20 vision in both eyes & vision may improve further as they're still stabilising.

To anyone who wants to get this done but is hesitant just go for it :)

Awesome stuff! Do you have a "grit" feeling in your eyes still and do they water?

I'm due for Accuwave Lasik eye surgery on Tuesday with Accuvision. Quite worried now! I've seen a lot of youtube videos about it and I'm dreading something going wrong lol. But the flap is cut with a laser which I much prefer to the mechanical way.

Any tips for me? :p, I know I've gotta wear sunglasses for a few hours after the surgery and get as much rest as possible. I'm a bit paranoid about the "no rubbing or getting water in your eyes for 2 weeks!" lol
