TBH ALL religious culture is terrible and no one in this day and age should have to live with any of them. Even the general Hindu Culture is full of caste discrimination and strong prejudice and hatred towards non Hindus / non Hindu culture that you simply would never realize unless you had lived your life within that culture.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that any kind of culture with a basis on any religion is lawfully protected and allowed to be taught and spread to children being born in this day and age.

A persons choice of religion / deity should not dictate that they live any kind of a particular lifestyle / culture dictated by the 'elders / priests / religious leaders / parents' of that religion.

In the real world, no one is given any kind of choice in a 'multicultural society'. They are all being forced into backward and obsolete ways of living by their families and segregated societies from the day that they are born.

A person should able and 'allowed' to live to the dictates of any religion they choose if they so choose, and the reason it is protected by law is because of people who would take that choice away from them and enforce their own, be it secular, atheist or theist on them, as you are proposing.

Just because your parents were 'backward' as you call them, doesn't mean all religious people are.

You can't really talk about discrimination, prejudice and hatred though can you, as you have shown all three traits yourself on this very forum more than once.

Must say I'm not a big fan of religion on a whole. Probably becuase I only hear of the negatives, of which there are many, and have never really seen it first hand.

If there were ever fewer 'White British' people in London than not, I'd class it as a problem.

I always like that whenever people say "Oh, London's not English any more", what they really mean is "Oh no, darkies!"

I'm from the North and i did hear that there are still some English people living in London , although i can't confirm whether this is true.

Because I live in Norfolk and I can still stand in the street and turn around and do a full 360 and just see 90% good British people and UK culture at it best and it is the same for a lot of the UK. But this is not possible in London no more it is a cold heart less place most of the time.
 
I know what he means. I don't go to London very often, but when I do it doesn't feel 'English'. Hard to comment of the pros/cons of this really, but from my experience I can agree with it not feeling English. The most striking thing though was when I went for my 'group assessment' at Imperial - I walked into the room, and genuinely thought I'd walked into some Chinese students meeting or something - they were all speaking in Chinese too! I think I must have been in the same slot as the International students, but it was just surprising, and somewhat off-putting, but also an exaggerated version of the real London I had walked through that morning. It certainly didn't feel very English. I wouldn't dare comment on whether this is a good or bad thing though.

London was founded by immigrants...who invaded and replaced the existing culture with their own.

And there's where the problem is. Immigrants change themselves to fit in with the place they move to. Conquerors change the place they move to to fit themselves. Nowadays there's enough of the latter in enough of the UK to be a reasonable concern. Conquest doesn't necessarily require outright warfare.

On a more serious note I don't think its all that important whether or not 1st generation immigrants integrate, the kids will inevitably do so anyway.

That used to be true, but not any more. It's one of the factors that makes immigration today different to immigration in the past.
