Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

I don't find this game suffers more host advantage over any others

I do :p

Me, Bevy and Jake used to play Gun game and Bevy's idea of Gun game is to see how many people he can set back (and mine is to see how many times I can set him back :D)

Well when playing Bevy always pulls host and when you go to stab him 8/10 times he will get the kill even if you're sure you stab him first, he is virtually untouchable when he has host. There was a rare occasion when I pulled host instead of him and he couldn't stab me to save his life, I'm talking 20+ knife kills on him alone and he probably got me 3 or 4 times because I missed.

The host advantage isn't that obvious in MW2 or Black Ops because it takes so little effort to kill someone, so even if someone is host it's still quite easy to take them down, but there is still quite a significant advantage when it comes to things like sniping and knifing.

Ah, well I never knife or snipe :D

I don't either, I only found it out by chance and stabbing Bevy a **** load of times, which isn't normal for me when playing Gun game with him :p

why did my post about where to buy MW3 hardened edition get deleted ?

Its not a game that OcUK stocks, whats the point in banning discussion about purchasing a game that OcUk won't stock ?

The idea that all talk about where to buy games must be stopped because OcUK stock 8 xbox 360 games is ludicrous.

Its not even like the competitor I mentioned is one of OcUKs main rivals. Its primarily a DVD / music / game retailer.

I get that we are not allowed to suggest cheaper to places to buy products that OcUK sell, and I get that we are not allowed to mention competitors who directly compete with OcUK, but this is silly.

Lets remind ourselves of the last thread we had from a Commissario about the competitor rules:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18299391&highlight=competitor+rules

Just to finally clarify the rules.
1. No competitor talk!
2. A competitor is defined as a company who sells similar hardware/periphal products to OcUK, which Amazon do and as such Amazon are *NOT* allowed, but a site such a Steam is fine as selling games is not our business.

The company i linked to is not a company that sells similar hardware to OcUK. It doesn't stock PC peripherals either.

Competitors that sell games are allowed to be mentioned as selling games is not OcUks business ,what with only stocking 8 of them and all.

So i'll ask again.

Wheres the best place to buy the hardened edition that doesn't compete with OcUK? the cheapest i've seen it is for £79.99 on xbox so far.

The cheapest i've seen it for is £79.99. I'd be surprised if anywhere else will have it for sale at a cheaper price.

OCUK sell games, the place you linked sells games (regardless if MW3 is not on OCUK). Simples!

Oh are we back on the competitor bandwagon are we.

Hang on going to Report every steam thread and post over on the PC forum BRB.

(One rule for us and one rule for them)

Yeah but the rules seem to change every couple of months, I remember a few months ago that there was a sticky in this section stating it was fine to mention things like Amazon, Play.com etc as long as it wasn't along the lines of "Play/Amazon have this 2TB Hard drive for £20 *link*". It was even said that mentioning games on Amazon etc was fine aslong as OcUK didn't stock that particular title.

Even this sticky from the PC section mentions that it's fine to mention such sites as long as you aren't linking to products that OcUK stock
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=19285108&postcount=1

People can't be expected to know the competitor rules when they keep changing all the time, one minute it's fine to mention certain competitors and then it's not.

I didn't get the memo :o

We don't get them either :p That PC games sticky is based off the one from the console section (the section that mentions competitors atleast) that I mentioned, but the console sticky disappeared a few months back. As I've mentioned the rules for this section seem to change every so often and we never get told so we don't know where we stand.

I've been posting in this section since I joined back in 2005 and the rules have gone from being allowed to mention any game retailer, to a complete ban on mentioning any retailer that stocks games, then we were allowed to mention games retailers again as long as they don't stock PC Hardware and then it was finally changed to being allowed to mention retailers such as Amazon as long as we weren't discussing or linking to Products that OcUK stock.

You can see how people can get confused.

£80 isnt too bad for hardened version.

:p:p:p

Seriously, you think it's a good deal to be paying £80 to play a game that should be no more that £30-40! This'll become the norm if this massively expensive version sells well enough.

I don't care what you get with it...all of that should included in a standard priced game. They just tack on junk and charge for it.

Free DLC and cod elite though.

Cod Elite should be free anyway...and they DLC will just be a few map packs and some other rubbish.

I want the game to be good, I'm not here to trash it, but I think paying anything over 'standard' game prices is insane and will lead to pricier versions next year.

Sorry guys, I think it's ok, I didn't get the memo :o as regards the PC Games sticky.

thankyou :)

If anybody sees a good deal on MW3 hardened edition. Let us all know :)

You're not much of a fan of COD then ?

Don't know about you, but most of us on here who play together usually end up getting all the DLCs. Thats £10 per map pack. DLC is part of the modern era of gaming, not even BF3 is going to be immune for it. Complaining that its not the way it should be is pointless, because things have moved on and DLC and F2P etc.. are here now. You just have to accept this and pay up.

As for elite, the extra stuff you get with paid membership is pretty sparse at the moment. But COD is a huge money maker, i'm sure they have great plans for stuff to add to the paid membership.

I'm not going to buy this game new at all. I'll get it used. Even if the used copy is just £1 cheaper than a new version. I refuse to give Activision any more money for a game i've already bought 3 times(MW1&2,Black Ops).
