Hey all,

Anyone played this game, I've seen it and looks ok kinda like WOW i think, But for £5 off Steam + monthly fee, is it worth getting?

Looks like you get one months free with it to, so for that yeah its worth it.

I'm a long term EQ2 vet and tbh I found the abilities all going on recast at the same time a little frustrating and the building up combo hits for other attacks annoying to.

Graphically its good but its not overly different to EQ2/WoW/Warhammer and other recent ish games that have come out, suffice to say its nothing special but if you're bored its worth a punt.

After all that negativity there on a side note, I'm tempted to try it again but I think I'm burned out from the samey wizard and dragon type MMO and really looking forward to SWTOR but again.. its worth trying for a fiver!

for a fiver its well worth it, but just dont think itll do you for very long. its a great looking game, and thats its best feature easily.
i paid £8 back in the steam summer sale, lasted 2 months worth of subs and stopped playing

Its worth a free months trial for £5, i enjoyed it when i played it but it was too much like wow so i didnt continue playing, on the up side the graphics are very nice.

You can now get a free 7 day trial for RIFT - so you can always "try before you buy".

I'm afraid I didn't even last to the end of the first free month - there are one or two nice features and the graphics are pretty but ultimately there was nothing to hold my interest....

Congrats on downing the bosses in hammerknell. How was Akyllios?

worth it, if you want to say goodbye to October.

There are to many good games coming out in Oct and Nov to get sucked into a generic mmo.

I thought it was competent but generic. It's not worth sinking money into, maybe worth playing for a month and moving on to something else if you are fan of the collect 15 bear asses mechanic.

I'd respectfully disagree. While there may be some 'generic' elements, the fact that;

- It's extremely polished
- Lots of updates and new content. Each building on the last.
- Raids are fun.
- Bosses aren't 'easy' - actually challenging mechanics.
- Good community

...keeps me playing. Levelling to 50 is generic, after that it's awesome. Of course, if you only played a month I'd understand your opinions. However, I'd also say that you didnt experience enough of the 'real' game to judge. :)

Wow, all the negativity! MMORPG is my favourite genre and I have to say that Rift is one of the best I've played in a long time. Yes, it is absolutely worth £5. Tch!

Im sorry but i dont believe endgame is the real game, the real game is the path to endgame and endgame is the reward. I played the freeweekend last year and after the two days i found it mind numbingly boring and went back to lotro. I think you have to enjoy the journey to have a great experiance.

I think I'd have to say that yes, its worth a fiver. In fact I'd say that most major MMOs are worth a fiver. I mean hell, I can splash down £30 on a game these days and have it completed about 10 hours after I've bought it, for a fiver most major MMOs can give you a good 50+ hours of gaming for that £5 months worth of play. Even if you decide at the end of the month that its not a keeper, the gameplay you've had for just a 5 quid outlay makes it worth it imo.

I liked this game initially but grew tired of it at the end of the first month. It's very polished though, probably the best mmo I've played post WoW. I think I've just gone off the genre in all honesty.
