Who remembers the toy Zoids?

It was lego'esque in that you had to build it, but it was sort of mechanical and iirc they were robot dinosaurs. Part of me remembers some sort of spin off cartoon but that could be false.

I had them back in the late 80s iirc - must google to see what happened to them.

Ah, I remember them. Lots of different ones as I recall; some small others very large. I forget what happened to mine.
Gone the way of starwars toys and figures, I suppose :(

I loved this stuff so much!

I am not sure how many different types of Dinosaur models they made, but I do remember having the flying bird, T rex, Triceratops, and the big long neck one.
If I remeber correctly, they also brought some newer models out after the originals. I got them too. I always preferred the originals though. I remember the older models being of a red color mainly although, I think the T rex was black and grey. Can't quite remember though.
The little silver men (pilots or whatever they were called) were cool too :D

Wonder how much this stuff is worth now? i'll have a look around and see what I can find.
Some happy days were had when I had this though, and lets not forget 'Manta force'

Yes remember them, never had them (too old back then) but i remember being hooked on the Zoids computer game for the Commodore 64.

Ahhh Zoids and the old Red vs Blue.

I used to get the Spiderman and Zoids comic which was ace!

Zoidzilla was the big t-Rex, and the red Triceratops was Red Horn the Terrible...

Too much of a geek showing through here...

I had a big gorilla and a big t rex, and used to make them "battle" by making them walk into each other.

Good times.

the toys were re-tooled and then re-issued in 2002/2003 over here in the uk supported by a new cartoon which ran for 50 episodes or so.

you could still buy most of the toys in the shops up until 2005 ish

I was about 12 or so when those things first came out! They were truly awesome and aside from those Matchbox 4x4 1xAA powered mini car things, and Transformers they were the 'must have' toy.

Like most I had lots of the smaller sized ones, even though I craved for the expensive godzilla like one :( Ahh the days trawling through the giant, fat Argos catalogue dreaming about em :p

Yep used to love them so much, got loads of the original release toy, had the computer game on the speccy 48k and used to buy the comic :)

:D

I was exactly the same, used to get a little one every now and again and one of the bigs ones for christmas and birthdays

They still release new ones fairly regularly in Japan.

I fairly recently purchases a box of zoids parts with a view to starting a project based on one of them but I never got around to doing what I wanted to do. The movement of some is still as great as it was when I was a kid!!!

I got mine (display model)

Zoids were cool. Having them march across the kitchen floor and walking into each other. Putting the bits on loose so they'd fall off on contact together with Pew Pew Pew KABOOM noises.

I had the T Rex, Diplodocus, Snail type one with the 2 trailers and the Rhino one and the flying one pteradactyl. Never did get the gorilla.

There was a few comics around the same time too. They were cool.
