Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Nexus?

well, i went from nexus to desire,

I didnt go s2 or even try it because i think it is one of the ugliest modern phones ive seen, i hated that middle button at the bottom.

paid 150 for the phone [60 cash back from new contract making that 90]
got a fairly good £140 for my desire [more than i was expecting!]
£20 per month contract [worked out cheaper than keeping the desire]

the phone and OS is fantastic, i thought i would miss sense UI, i dont with this, [i do love blue on black however, probably the best colour layout even if i was choosing!]
the phone is big, and i have small hands but im used to it now, makes a great sat nav,

battery is better [probably due to my network switch tho]
camera is better than the desire,

screen is amazing.

LED is better than the desire [important for me] only thing i cant get it to do is blink a different colour depending on caller, but it has 10+ colours using light flow

one of the best things for me is i can now update apps as i had run out of space on the desire, its allocated capacity was terrible, i mean, what were htc thinking?

the only thing i think is worse is build quality, my desire didnt have a scratch on its screen, was easy to hold and felt solid. This feels slippery, light and i think the screen will scratch easy.

i couldnt use stock android in any other OS form without sense, but 4.0.2 is really nice.

just my thoughts

Thanks for posting, interesting. Sounds like a Similiar build to the S2 and that was my initial thoughts, felt cheap. I was hoping the Nexus would be better. I have been more than pleased with my Desire and after nearly 2 years its still in pretty much as new condition.

Where did you get the deal from, sounds very good?

I've also got a desire that I got within the first couple of days they were released and have an emotional attachment to it.

Over the time I've run many different roms on it and at the moment its running leedroid HD v3.3.3, over all its been a fantastic phone and is still in perfect condition but i could never bring my self to sell it.

BUT, its no where near as good as a galaxy nexus and I have no regrets at all about getting it.

Not sure why anyone would go for the S2 over the Nexus. Unless you specifically need upgradable storage or play complex 3D games on your phone. The Nexus has a superior design, massively better screen and the best OS on the market.

Even with complex 3d games the nexus is more than capable so I can't honestly see why some people think this is an issue anyway.

It supposedly the flagship android device so you would expect it to have the best CPU and GPU and it doesn't. While it might not be an issue now in 2 years time the extra grunt of the S2 Might come in play with modded ROMS.

2 years ago the Desire was the phone to have and it could do every thing, now the Nexus is the one to have but in 2 years time its going to feel as long in the tooth as the Desire does now and we ill all be looking at getting upgrades anyway.

Most people upgrade their phones every year to 18 months so no problem there.
