Merry Xmas all.
Sorry if this question has been done to death. Just wondering about the title question. I have a 28" monitor that runs at 1920x1200. Sadly I am using an E8400 CPU oc'd to 3.6ghz so I understand that this will have a detrimental effect on the gpu's performance.

The two cards I'm looking at are.

MSI GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Or the
MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Twin FrozR II 2048MB GDDR5

Your thoughts and knowledge are appreciated!

Depends if you are obsessed with AA (like me) or not I suppose. Most games I play barely break 1gb, let alone 1.2gb+. Due to that, I'd probably go for the 570 instead. However, the 7800 range of AMD cards is due to launch in the next 2 weeks or so, which is probably worth hanging about for to see what their prices are like as they'll be quieter and more power effecient versions of the 69xx series. They'll also come with 2gb of VRAM as standard, so a good option.

I'm in the same predicament.

The only thing the 570 does better is it has 480 processing cores compared to the 560's 384. Are those extra cores really worth the extra cost?

I'm a bit worried about going to ATI as I'm always reading about poor drivers.

Get the 570 mate, much better card. I have no probs with anything at 1080p

Tesselation is a lot better on 570, the 560 performs like an ATI.

You'll notice the extra performance of the GPU far more than the extra RAM, the benefits of extra vram have been greatly exaggerated.

Fixed a wee bit! :p

And +1!

How about this card instead OP:

Pretty much performs the same as a stock 570 and beats it when OC by a bit, but cheaper and you get a damn good cooler, which means that this card has even lower noise levels and lower temps than the standard 560TI.

EDIT:

However just wait for a few weeks for the 7870 to see how it is performance and price wise and to see if the current nvidia cards prices will be reduced! :)
