Im thinking of buying a grey import version of the Canon 600d from Digital Rev, i've seen their youtube channel, read about them online and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

I've paid for a 550d from Dixons but will cancel the order to get this

Its £446, over £150 cheaper than Amazon.

I realise this is because its an import etc and you dont get Canon warrenty, but they will provide a 12month warranty with it. I also planned to get a squaretrade warranty anyway.

Good idea?

I bought a grey 60d from another UK vendor, it came with a seperate 1 year warranty with option to extend to 3yrs. Nothing wrong with it at all.

I bought my 7d from them. Delivery took three days and apparently they handle faulty equipment with a UK agent. The manual was in Chinese and it came with the two prong charger with a UK adapter.

They also seem to have a good deal on the warranty front. They let you take the camera to a repair centre yourself and just claim back the cost.

Although not a grey import, I bought a 600D a few weeks ago and love it. It's my first DSLR, but I'm seriously impressed:)

I am looking to get a 600D in the middle/end of January. - Which places are the best places to buy? Tempted to buy in the normal superstores in the city. But also been looking at DigitalRev however I am scared when it comes down to warranty, especially on expensive items.

Hi,

I bought mine from Jessops. The manager gave me a great deal as I also bought a 50mm lens, sd card, case etc

Yes i've canceled my Digital Rev order, will wait a while, 650d is out in next few months also which should slash the prices. I'm gona keep the 550d i ordered from Dixons and if i can find a 600d cheap i;ll send that back.

With an extra battery, flash, sd case, was just over that iirc

Yeh sorry my point was not to go with Jessops. It may sound like a deal but you could have had it for a lot cheaper but the advantage is you can actually visit a store to sort any problems out and they give 6months interest free. But I wouldnt get from them simply because they're overpriced, because they have to be i guess.

Not a prob. I put it through my company on expenses, so wanted to buy it from somewhere I could go back to like u said.

There is also onestop digital for imports. Not used them myself so can't say how good they are. Tempted though as prices seem pretty good, and offer VAT back if you get charged by customs.

Problem with the imports, if they go wrong are you stuck? Or do you have to ship the camera abroad somewhere for it to be fixed?

That is good then, I might buy the one from DigitalRev then get external warranty/cover from Squaretrade or somewhere similar. :)
