Hi,

Looking for recommendations for an upgrade to my current system. Would be used for light gaming (Diablo 3 / SkyRim) and watching films. Don't currently have a graphics card so will need to get one.

Haven't got the budget to replace the entire system I don't think unfortunately. (Budget £200-£220)

Current system:-

AMD Athlon II X3 435 2.9GHz Socket AM3 1.5MB L2 Cache Retail Box Processor
Sony AD-5240S 24x DVD±RW DL Internal SATA Black Bare Drive - OEM
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H 785G Socket AM3 DVI VGA HDMI Out 8 Channel Audio MATX Motherboard
Coolermaster Elite 341 MATX Case
OCZ 400W Stealth XStream PSU - 140mm Fan 1x PCI-E 4x SATA
Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 HyperX Memory Kit CL9(9-9-9-27)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2 Socket 775, 1156, 1366, AM2, AM3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler

Was thinking of getting the following:

AMD 960T (With plans to OC it)

OCUK 6850

- Will that memory be enough to run those games ok or worth getting an extra 4Gb?
- Will the PSU run that GFX card?

Thoughts?

Thanks for your help!

That looks good to me, 4GB should be okay but RAM is very cheap so if you can afford it it may help your rig last longer. Your PSU will be fine with that card, I think it only needs 1 PCIe connector. The other option is to get an i3, which are great for gaming. Then you can sell your current CPU/RAM/Mobo:

YOUR BASKET
1 x OcUK ATI Radeon HD 6850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £107.99
1 x Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £101.99
1 x MSI H61M-P23 Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard **B3 REVISION** £47.99
1 x Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT51264BA160A) £37.99
Total : £307.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

AMD Phenom Processors will run those games fine if you can fit AM3 sockets which it looks like you can without forking out for a new mobo

Theres a 95W edition CPU too which will use less power if you are concerned about your PSU but it should just about be enough

4GB should be fine, I play BF3 on a Phenom CPU on High with 4GB RAM

Tbh you don't need a top of the range rig for those games. They are pretty low on the graphical scale. I run both on high/ultra setting with my 5970. Depends how much future proofing you want vs spending as little as possible. Obviously budget is your first concern.

Note: It was only D3 Beta

They had linked to the 95W edition anyway! That PSU is more than enough for that set up don't worry.

wish I could accesss the members market.... I wanna sell my Phenom x4 3.2 95W and 560Ti which would give you more than enough power well inside that budget

I'm looking for a 2nd hand Phenom X4 (95w), wish I had access as well ;)

im not trying to sell it here "illigally" just stating that I will be once I get access to the members area :)

I'll re-word my post I think
