Went into a high street store and they had the 4gb and 250gb slim xbox 360 for sale. On the 250gb it said the hard drive was flash. I thought the 250gb HD was a normal mechanical one?

The 4GB has flash memory built into the board, but the 250GB is a mechanical HDD.

This.

Just a case of whoever designed the sign not understanding (or not thinking it matters), and then whoever you spoke to in store having nothing other than what is written on the sign to go by, so therefore arguing blindly that it must be true.

The HDD's in all 360's are 2.5" mechanical drives. The 4GB does not have a HDD, only a 4GB flash chip on the board. The HDD slot is there, but empty.

This is 100% correct.

Now go buy the 250Gig version, take photos of their posters that say Flash for the 250Gig and then report them to trading standards lol Is it Game by any chance? I would bet money it is haha

I've got one. It's a HDD and not flash. Actually, I see the 4gb version sold as having a 4gb HDD quite often. And also, I see mobile phones, MP3 players etc etc etc sold as having 16gb "memory" all the time.
