Hi guys,
the missus finally has 'her' kitchen in place and now I get my way with whatever monitor I desire to compliment my rig.
I have around a £1000 to spend and I don't mind spending the lot, although I certainly won't grumble if there is money to be saved.
I'm a general user, I watch a lot of tv series and movies, browse a bit and jump into games as often as possible, I don't have a favourite genre gamewise, I'll play SWTOR, BF and COD series, Deus Ex, Sports games etc etc.
I currently have a trusty Samsung 22" 2232BW, but I want to step up now to 27" - 30".
I'm not interested in 3D gaming and I'm not interested in multi monitor set-ups.
IPS seems to be the next logical step for me and I don't mind if it's glass fronted or not.
I also want to avoid the lesser respected manufacturers, we've all heard the horror stories regarding after sales support or lack there of.
Here's are 3 that have caught my eye, though I have NO experience with any of these;

Dell UltraSharp U2711 27" Widescreen
Dell Ultrasharp U3011 30" Widescreen
Apple Cinema Display 27"

I'm running a 560ti Twin Frozr gpu which does NOT have 'display port' so I understand I have to buy an adapter to use the Apple monitor, any of you guys have experience with these monitors, any issues you're aware of that I should consider or are there any monitors you would recommend that I may not have though about?
I appreciate this is a wide open enquiry with many answers and opinions but in short, if you had a £1000 to spend, on a monitor, what would you go for.

Thanks

Hi guys,
thanks for the feedback, I know it was one of those questions that can make people roll their eyes when they see it,
"yet another duh-duh asking what monitor he should buy"
of course I've done a bit of browsing to see what's out there (online and in stores) but usually it's just better to ask you guys straight out, especially when some of you own or have owned a product.
To me at present a £1000 is a lot of money (but I insist I'm going to spend it as it's my treat) and you know what it's like when you're about to take the plunge with your long sought after PC upgrade, especially when it's a piece that is going to have to last you 4 -5 years, it's the 'do I or don't I' moment.
I'm leaning toward the Dell Ultrasharp U3011 30", I'll see how well it runs (or doesn't) with the higher res for my Twin Frozr 2 (it is only the 1gb model) and if there are problems I'll throw another one in along side it, hopefully that'll sort it.
If something springs to mind that you think I need to know/should consider please update as I won't be buying the Dell until last week in February and I'm on this site almost daily.
Thanks again, take it easy...

With a £1000 budget i think i would go for the u2711 and use the change towards a better graphics card like a 7970 or 7950 with 3gb of ram

This. The 560 wont stand a chance at those resolutions, I can say the U2711 is a lovely screen so I guess the U3011 would be too but you're going to need more graphics power. My GTX295 needs replacing now after getting this screen.

This get a slightly lesser screen in the dell or hazro 27" and spend the rest on a new gpu with more vram as 1gb you'll be looking at very low settings at this res even with two of them

take this route with free shipping it will be £999 and you can sell your 560ti and get some cash back

as the 27" have a high pixel desity than the 30" versoins (correct me if iam wrong) which allows for sharper picture

BenQ XL2420T.

Save the rest for SLI Keplar GPUs in April for true 120hz gaming.:p

Otherwise if going IPS i would go for HP ZR2740W which is a very nice monitor....30 inch is too costly i think with the difference between 27 and 30 inch you can get a 7970 so.
