I am not sure the French resistance went around bombing other French people in markets etc though?

The French resistance did plenty of Killing of it's own people it even did quite a bit of killing of other members of the resitance over political ideology.

I really don't like him, and have met him once before... Saying that, I don't particularly disagree with what he's saying. It's not that they don't 'like' being liberated, more perhaps that you shouldn't expect any thanks.

He has a tendency to go on a tangent or dress things up which can muddy the points he is making, the france thing was quite bizarre :D

Thats unacceptable as well then - but even if thats true, there is a difference (however unacceptable it is) between executing perceived collaborators and bombing regular joes in market places a-la Iraqi insurgents.

Many of whom are *not* Iraqi.

they enemy is simply doing all they can to win.

If we were attacked by aliens I am sure we would throw nukes at them (if we had to) knowing full well it would kill million of our own... I dont think its a daft comparison, the taliban are outnumbered 1000's to 1 (even if we dont have all our forces there we can send more) our technology is decades ahead of theirs and our resources are almost unlimited.

(i don't condone what they do)
