That's disgusting. They'd be completely disgraced if we did that in one of their war cemetery's. It's a matter of respect.

Don't neccessarily believe this is a reflection of Libyans as a whole though. Just because US soldiers burnt the Koran doesn't mean all of them would be so disrespectful.

Graves were fine under Gaddafi...., that's what happens when you join one side of a civil war & put extremists in power.

Obviously as mentioned above, this isn't going to be indicative of the population as a whole, or Muslims as a whole - just those with the biggest mouths & smallest brains (like all country's).

Also, women are likely to lose most of there rights (once Islamic law get's implemented)..., I really wonder if it's now worse than it was before.

Quite, we touched upon this slightly in the David Starky thread last night. Liberation of one country by a country with a very different culture rarely works.

Define "works". Gaddafi was a megalomaniac tyrant who was using his army to slaughter dissenters. It's hard to imagine the current situation being worse for the Libyan people. Okay, it might not align with how us Westerners do things, but that wasn't the point of intervening. The point was to put an end to the senseless slaughter.

Indeed,

"Islamic sharia law will prevail in Libya and any existing laws that contradict this will be repealed, National Transitional Council leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil said on Monday."

I'm sure the women of Libya will happy for our "help".

I'd prefer the Gaddafi style megalomaniac tyrant to the Sharia law following women abusing religious tyrants if I was a women.

I'm not saying he was great, god no - just the people we support were worse in many ways also, to think this was about "freeing the people of Libya" is a bit short-sighted, effectively when we have just aided in enslaving 50% of the population by religious fanatics.

There slavery is on our hands.

It wasn't a senseless slaughter though, the Libyan government was trying to regain order after the country became destabilised... do you really think we would do anything different if a few thousand people ran around Tottenham with guns killing the police and calling for revolution? we would treat them like terrorists and send the army/special forces in just the same as Ghadaffi did.

The only difference is our government is perceived as being run by angelic beings so people can't comprehend why anyone would want a revolution, that's why when ever anyone protests against anything over here they're immediately throw in the anarchist camp.

Except, as you'll recall, similar riots did happen back in Old Blighty, with buildings being set on fire, looting, destruction of property, etc etc. Did we send in the army? No we didn't. We sent in the police, and things escalated no further. In Libya, they sent in the army, started killing people, and it escalated into civil war. That's the difference.

This should be a sharp wake up call for any of you drones who bought the mass media's portayal of the Libyan rebels and freedom-loving heroes. In reality, it was largely run by Al Qaida and Islamists with tribal elements (the same as it was/is in Egypt and Syria).

You only have to peruse the Libya threads here to see how many people swallowed the media trash without questioning it.

WAKE UP.
