**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

The problem is Apple only sell one (well 2 designs in reality) phone. Android (your example) runs on many. Far more options on design, colour, size and specification. Same with Windows Phone.

I know this forum is obsessed with specifications but in the real world it's not that clear cut.

I suppose that's true, but in the real world the iPhone rules its price bracket due to the fact it's made by Apple and the design/quality is arguably the best. :p

Until you drop it on the floor :D. I'm fed up with all these dainty phones, I'm a really dope when it comes to manhandling a phone so it gets dropped constantly, which is why I chose the lumia. solid piece of kit!

I don't buy a phone based on how it will react when I drop it as I don't plan on dropping it and to this day I haven't. The main flaw with the iPhone is that the glass on the back can shatter quite easily, the front isn't any better/worse than most other phones.

As for the Lumia, the camera part on the back scratches very easily and you could easily take a chunk out of the phone casing if you drop it.

Either way in either of the two above scenarios I'd just buy a new phone as it would annoy me. The advantage of the iPhone is that the back glass is very easy to replace. I doubt you could replace the main body of the Lumia very easily.

Arguably... ;)

Indeed.

What is the score with the battery on the Lumia 800 now then, have Nokia sorted it out yet? I had two different phones back in December and it was shocking (even after the updates!)

Can anyone get on YouTube? I load myoutube.com and all I get is a blank page ever since I upgraded to the new windows phone.

My mums after a contract phone (has PAYG and is always topping up) and I'm seriously considering getting her one of these. For 3 reasons:

1. Free on a £20-22 a month contract
2. She'll find it a lot easier learning and navigating the Windows OS than Android
3. Best phone on a 500 min, Unlimited Text, 1GB Internet (£22 per month)

Nice to see the battery performance has improved, as that was putting me off.

There is a new update (firmware 12070) coming which fixes it :) I get 2 days now whereas before I only got 1.

Depends if you're phone is locked to a network. I spoke to o2 about it today and they said it will be 2 or 3 months until they roll out the update. :(

Its the version ending in 12070. Might try and flash it but shouldn't have to flash a new phone to make it work properly.

I'm having to put the phone into battery saver mode almost straight away in the morning to get to last for the day. Even if I spend 15 minutes reading the news or on the web it will be dead before the day is out. It's a real shame as I'm liking WP7 and I like the look of the phone but it's going to have to go if it isn't sorted by next week.

You can just push the cab to your phone. ;)

Gentleman, I bring you sad tidings.

Today, I've done something which I thought I would never do again but I could not take it any longer.

I have purchased an iPhone 4S again to replace my Nokia Lumia 800.

The phone is good and solid and the WP7 OS is good, but the apps are just not there yet.

It's been a joyful ride, but the iPhone offers me better apps which is what I want for my smartphone.

I may return to the WP7 world, but it's got some changes to make first.

See you on the other side.

That's pretty much the same situation I'm in.

I can get about 25% of my 'must have' apps on Windows Phone, which isn't particularly great at the moment. :(

I'm planning on having a Windows Phone full time in future though, they just need to start picking up the pace with app creation and a few other things.

I definitely agree with you guys about the apps, but when I had my SGS2 and then the iPhone 4S, I couldn't help but... Well, just wish I had WP7 instead of Android or iOS. I just prefer the way it does things, I love the way it looks. When using the other 2 phones I'd be like "I could have done this on WP7!" but I don't get the same feeling the other way around, when there is something WP7 doesn't do as well as the other 2.

Ah well, I guess it must be true love. :p

thats at least 2 of us, I did the same last week. After 2 months of playing pretty rubbish games (I'm not paying over £1 for a mobile game, it's just not good enough) I switched back to a 4S (I had one before), 69p later I've barely put plants vs zombies down.

The rest of it feels so polished too, the twitter app is so so so much better.

Shame really, either way I'm rooting for WP7.

My CAB is mid push. Nervously optimistic. :)

Edit: push complete. That was really easy, no data lost and battery drain shows as being well down.
