FX6100 Cooler

I currently only have the stock cooler on my fx6100 where the fan points towards one of the intake fans on the side of my zalman z9+ case.

Would it be better to get a cooler where the fan points upwards towards an exhaust fan?

The stock cooler is ok but a tower one will be beter like the gelid tranquillo, coolermaster hyper 212 evo or xigmatic gaia

All depends upon what budget you have really.

Mostly, yes, but I wouldn't guarantee they all do.

Most of the time its also worth just removing it and using your own anyway.

Coolermaster v6gt isnt bad I use mine on the black brother of you CPU (fx-8120) and runs at around 48-52 when playing skyrim

Just installed a Gelid Tranquillo on a Q9450 @ 3.4Ghz and it's a big thumbs up from me. It's quiet and cool and it's £26 well spent.

Yes, I have the Gelid Tranquillo as well and am very happy with it.

Am I correct in assuming that all coolers that state they fit AM3 sockets will also fit AM3+ sockets?

Yes

The gelid has quite a following around here so you cant go wrong with one.

I might save up a bit more for the Gelid GX7, I prefer the styling of it

On my phenom II X6 1090T overclocked, highest that I've seen it reach is 52*c. That is with the cooler mounted so it is blowing straight out of the top of the case.
