As the thread title, Does anyone Buy and then sell using eBay for example Wholesale sites etc, Got a mate who does this gets 5 items for £31 sells each item £40 a pop quids in weekly.

Does anyone do this If so are people willing to share these idea's?

We are all friends.. arn't we?!

My company does some selling on eBay , but now mostly just to get rid of stock we wouldn't sell elsewhere.

Buying to sell is extremely competitive, and difficult to make a good return unless you really have a good niche, or can buy a lot cheaper than others.

Only a good idea if you know your market well enough to get a tidy profit. Otherwise you're in for a world of irritation with crappy buyers and high eBay fees.

Hope the taxman knows about that.

How much are the ebay and paypal fees on a £40 item?

He must be making about £2 profit a time?

Rich!

Depends on what you're selling - but this was probably my biggest problem whenever I looked into doing this. I looked into buying video games wholesale, but the amount eBay take from your final price is too much to make a profit that warrants the amount of time you take to do it all :(

I think if you find a niche product that isn't being sold on a large scale there is certainly room for profit making. But then that goes for any business really and there is a reason they are hard to find. I certainly wouldn't be telling people about it even if it did find a product like that.

Since he pay's eBay and PayPal fee's is this still the case, For example the taxman dosen't know when I sell some unwanted clothing on eBay ?

They still check - I've heard stories of people being stung by selling things on eBay and not declaring it. Another thing that steered me away :p

I did this, imported a lot of copper shims from China and re-sold them on eBay.

By a lot, we're talking thousands! I made a tidy profit, it paid for a decent holiday.

The opportunities are out there. :)

He has to tell the tax man if he's selling with the intention of making profit.

They aren't interested in you're selling some unwated items etc.

So basically mass buy a cheap good. In the same way a normal company would I guess....

I've got a friend who would buy make up from abroad, and stuff, and sell it on eBay. Seemed to work quite well.
