You win one of the 18 millionaire prizes on tonights lottery, your plans?

I'd buy my parents a nice little house in the countryside somewhere, buy myself a nice little house in the peak district or something (Somewhere with good MTB'ing trails). Get myself a car/pickup - Something like a Hilux 4x4 and then 10k on building myself the perfect MTB.

The rest would be invested/used to put me through Uni. :)

- Pay off parents mortgage
- 50k to bro and sister each
- travel for 6 months or so
- join a race series such as Caterham academy + ~20k building the car
- ~5k on a few choice upgrades to current car
- 50k or so set aside to fund a startup idea
- invest rest as per advice from a financial advisor

Buy a house. A new car. A bike. And put the rest into savings.

This, pretty much. Buy a nice house outright, buy a nice second car, spend a little more on some luxuries like holidays etc, and save the rest for an early retirement. Perhap also offer money to my parents to either buy a new house etc.

Yeah, can't forget about gifts to the family. I'd give my immediate family 50K each and buy a house in south London to rent out for a year while I went travelling. I might even buy a car, although that would require learning how to drive one first.

As said earlier, this would cost you more than getting a mortgage, which could be paid out of the interest on the million.

OK, place a substantial deposit on a nice house then.

I just think it would be rather nice to own my own property debt free.

Interesting that there's no mention of charity in this thread :p

I'm really stingy when it comes to money :o

I'd take enough of the money to be able to live a comfortable and slightly luxurious life through uni (so 100-150k). Then I'd probably buy something for the family (not too expensive mind!)

Then I'd find some worthy charities and dish the remainder out to them.

I just want an E46 M3 convertible in epic condition and then I'd build a heated garage for it. Nothing else matters!

The rich stay rich by being stingy with their money, they say :p

New cars and house for Mrs and myself, pay parents mortgage off, pay wifes parents mortgage off, holiday and rest in savings. Enough to live comfortably for a while :)

Firstly I would put around 700k into a decent house with two garages on the outskirts of london.
I would turn my 306 into an all out 450hp supercharged car with track suspension but make it look completely standardish to the eye.
I would then get a 1M as my main car
The rest would go on pimping my house and in a fund to run my expensive lifestyle.
Obviously i would still work

Move to a better/decent area in a nice, large house.
Start my own business and work for myself.
Splash out on some treats for me and others/a holiday.

Save the rest in a high interest account/ISA.
