- It's not a knees-up cos the Mum can't drink
- It's not something for men to attend
- I don't know anyone that's had one recently, they're a bit last generation :/

Baby showers are stupid and american.

This^

Baby showers are typical commercial American ********. If family or friends wish to buy a present for the baby that's up to them. You shouldn't invite people to a party that's sole function is to fleece the invitees out of their money.

If their names are Cam or Mitchel then maybe they would like to attend, otherwise no!

Not really - it totally depends on the people....just like with weddings, birthdays, Xmas, stag/hen parties, etc, etc. Our wedding was tiny and cost next to nothing. My stag do was a couple of mates going out for a drink and curry. Our baby shower was a few people who bough food they had made themselves and - yes - a couple of gifts. Some people like to embrace the commercialism, some shun it completely, others (like us) enjoy the social aspect and seeing friends/family but don't buy into the commercialism.

I just don't think it's something that men would be invited to really.... Don't get why it's "American only" as I've seen many of these in the UK for years. :)
