Is the Galaxy S2 still worth buying new? It is £160 cheaper than a S3 sim-free and need to replace my Nokia 5800..

It's still a superb phone. Will easily run any app on the market and has superb media capabilities. SAMOLED screen which means insane blacks and has ICS and will probably get the next major Android update I imagine, it seems powerful enough but who knows. I'd say if you can get it for new for anywhere near £300 you're looking at a decent deal. I wouldn't want to be paying over £300 really though.

I'd say so. If you're that way inclined then you may want to keep an eye on the second hand market too as it'll no doubt be inundated with these now the 3 is out.

You can recycle it for £220 so expect to pay a bit more than that.

If storage isn't a problem, pay that little bit more and get the HTC one S ;)

Better than the GS 2 in pretty much every other way apart from 1080P recording quality.

the only better thing in it is the screen resolution :]

And it has stock google/ICS over the GS 2.

No SD card means the Nexus is dead in the water for me.

The SGS2 is still a great phone but I personally would spend an extra 160 for the S3.

I have the s2 at the moment.

The S2 is still a great devicew. My brother has his on another year contract and is fine with that. I can't wait to have the S3 so I can do comparisons.

I'd have the S2 anyday of the One S - really loving my S2 now that I've rooted/ICS themed the stock ROM - not using a cover/case and have bought the ext. battery. Awesome phone the S2.

Buy the S2 off AVForum for 270ish BNIB.

Even if you didn't own the GS 2 and was upgrading from say a desire or GS?

Baring in mind that you can also root the one S and flash a ICS theme and hopefully very soon a fully working stock ROM/CM9 now that the kernel source has been posted. Isn't the limited storage the killer for you?

I was pretty certain that the GS 2 was going to be my next phone as well when my contract was up (or the GN) largely due to being able to buy an extended battery, SD slot and a great developing community behind it and then just due to the sheer popularity of it for everything but after reading all the expert and user reviews for the S and advice from here and lastly a good long play with both devices, I went with the S in the end.

There's really nothing in it between the S2 and One S. Personal preference at the end of the day.

The HOX and S3 aren't mind-blowing flagships either.

Had a play with a blue S3 today in P4U, I walked over to it thinking it was a dummy model I was quite shocked when the homescreen moved :p.

Can't say I was impressed to be honest, Yeah its smooth but so is my SGS2 & it just looks extremely tacky(still hasn't changed my opinion now I've seen it), The screen was OK I guess nothing amazing though imo.

I guess the blue would be OK if the brushed effect didn't look like someone had sat there for hours on end scratching a key against it. But nothing can excuse the Home button & the back at all!

I had a good 10 mins play with it & no one even came to speak to me in the store! Even more amazed :D

My Defy has a broken ear speaker, which I replaced and it is still bust, so I need a new phone.

I was all up for a One X or the S3, but may be I was a little shortsighted on what they would cost. I have an amazing sim only deal so I will buy the phone outright. I may snap up an S2 now the S3 is out. I hope to see it for £250 new (sim free) soon once the S3 gets in stock.

I don't think the S2 will ever drop below £300 from the big online retailers tbh. Will just get phase out I think with other mid range models, like the Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance.
