If I buy the components seperatly and overclock myself, is it easy enough to do?

Was tempted by one of the preoverclocked bundled, but obviously when you update bioses etc, the overclock could become unstable, so probabl better off doing it my self.

You said in the previous thread you wanted 4.5ghz, this isnt hard to do at all.
Disable Turboboost and the four power saving features,

C1E, C3/C6 state, thermal monitor, CPU EIST
- this will set the CPU to 4.5GHZ all the time

Set the CPU clock ratio to 45X

Add a touch of Vcore ( I need 1.32-1.325v on mine, add a touch of LLC to counteract the droop.

Test for stability.

Or if you want the CPU to flip from 1.6Ghz-3.4Ghz upto 4.5Ghz, then you set the Turbo values to 45X and add the Vcore etc.

If i was you i would turn off turbo as it can be unstable, well it was on SB I would turn off turbo but keep speed step. This will make it run 1.6 - 4.5 and is good for stability and cool temps on idle :D

Autotune or whatever it's called on most motherboards should be able to get you upto 4.4/4.5 without you needing to do anything much lol

Those auto OC'ing profiles would give it more voltage than required, enabling it to get more hotter. First stability at stock volts and then manual OC'ing from there is the best way to go.

Hi mate, i can shed some light as iv been testing my i5 3570k and im very suprised how easy the overclocking is on it :D

Iv managed to pull 4.5ghz just by disabling turbo boost and setting the volts to 1.25! Max load temps at the moment are:

Core1: 58
core 2: 64
core3: 62
Core4: 54

Make sure it is stable during Prime95, I would advise 4+ hours at least.

Following this vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxCPyF-1tTc

This is what I'm getting at the moment whilst running Aida64:

Which seems hot to me. I'm using a Coolermaster Hyper 612S.

What should I be lowering in order to reduce the temps?
