This is my first post, so please be gentle.

My think current PSU is not sufficient to power my system with my 'new' graphics card installed & being recently made redundant I can't go buying an expensive new one. I know the system is old but finances don't allow any major changes, only small bits at a time.

My current system is:
Abit KN9S
Athlon 64 X2 3800
4gb Ram
Radeon 3400
LG DVD/RW
4 x HDD's
HEC-550w PSU

I recently bought a GeForce 8600 GTS, the fans spin but no output. I've had it checked by a mate & it works fine in his system, so I can only presume my PSU isn't supplying enough to power the card as well as everything else.

The 2nd hand Corsair, Antec & OCZ one's on eBay always go for more than I can afford, so my question is: Is the ATRIX 800w PSU any good?

Cheap as possible, even the one that T345 suggested is a bit over what i can afford. £71 a week from the gevernment don't go far when you've got a house to run

Sorry, but that OCZ is already scrapping the bottom of the barrel. £30 would be the limit of my recommendations for a PSU. Either that, or you will need to find a second hand unit around your place. New PSUs under £30 ain't really worth the trouble.

Both of them are eBay jobbies. Would an X-Power GTX 950W be ok?

Even if it doesn't supply the full 950W, it should be enough for my system though.

But they're unreliable and could potentially take out the entire system if it goes wrong. Seriously, save the money and get the OCZ CoreXtreme 500w T345 specced.

The ocz linked would be fine for that spec, also it will have a full warranty. You could take a chance on the toughpower, depending on price. Theyre a high quality psu, i used one in an overclocked i7 920 system and was really pleased with it. But being second hand, warranty issues will arise if it does fail, at 700w though it's a bit overkill for your spec. Psu's such as atrix, x-power, ez cool etc should be avoided at all cost.
