Hey all, just won £300 \o/

Im looking to get rid of my 2 gtx 280s and get a single card. which one would you suggest? I dont think i need anything major like the new gen cards but i was looking at a gtx570. Im not sure if my cpu would bottleneck?

I have a quad core q9550 2.83ghz.

any suggestions?=)

I think the 280's are very similar in performance to a 570. 2xgtx 260's are about the same speed as an amd 5870 so you can safely add 20% on top of that for the 280's. Also I would say your processor is running a fine line at that speed have you tried overclocking it? For 300pounds you can update your processor to an i5 3750k with a pretty good motherboard and ddr3 ram to boot. Thats what I would get.

I'd love to upgrade my cpu, even with an 2500k that would be ace. But the most i've ever put into a computer is a gfx card. I wouldnt have a clue what to do with a motherboard+cpu

You motherboard and CPU are fine. Your CPU is unlikely to bottleneck in anything but the most CPU demanding game. However, this advice is dependent on you overclocking it. It's free, easy to do if you have some basic perseverance, and can provide a really nice boost to performance.

What games do you play and at what resolution?

My cpu hits between 50-70 under-load and idles at around 45-55. I only really play world of warcraft. borderlands2 when it comes out also, nothing major :P I only game at 1680/1050

Would you not wait until you need to upgrade if you only play those 2 games? Whatever you buy can be outdated quick.

WoW can only use 1 card at a time, so your SLI is being wasted if thats all you play :(

I would spend the money on a cpu upgrade.

you sir are wrong! wow dose support SLI! i get 70-80% usage on both 570's when i turn off v sync :)

as everyone else is saying if thats all your going to be playing its not worth the upgrade at the moment!
