Helloo,

I'm looking to get a Surround Sound Headset/Phones for all use of life. I game both PC and Xbox, watch films/shows and listen to as well as edit music/audio tracks. (Old school thrash and techinical Death etc )

Hardware is not as issue, have an onboard Realtec HD sound card 7.1 with surround/optical connections bluetooth and all the mumbo.

So I'm looking for something with great surround for games, but still have epic audio quality for films and music. Wireless is a must. Comfort is obviouisly a must and they can't look like something from a clay explosion. Built in microphone as well.

I've read many reviews and noticed that Virtual Surround seems to kick True surround out the water and beyond and that having an AMP is better (better than the soundcard software?) but can't decide from reviews alone.

I need opinions of the masses!

Thanks.

Rory.

Your options are slim if you must have a mic.

Wireless headsets are USB and will not make use of your sound card.

Turtle Beach PX5/PX3, take your pick.

PX5 are "better" but the PX3 are rechargable wheras the PX5 are not. Go for the PX3 as the rechargability would be essential personally.

Yeah I had been looking at Turtle Beach range. Also looking at the Tritton Warhead 7.1, but it doesn't say if it's True or Virtual.

Not all are USB, a lot are Digital aren't they? Like the Turtles and Tritton...

Not sure you'll find much in the way of surround sound wireless headsets that does everything well :|

You also probably want to specify your budget

Budget doesn't matter as long as the price is fair, can't see myself going far above the price of Turtle Beach Top product...

Am I right in saying that Virtual 7.1 or 5.1 would better, as I could switch to stereo and get decent music/film quality?

The trouble with switching to stereo for music and films is that the sound is still being produced by one or all of the smaller speakers/drivers inside the cans. A single bigger driver provides better quality than a few smaller ones.

That what I meant by Virtual, no multi speaker per can.

I'd go for an amp with decent wireless headphones and a bluetooth mic.

I guess the Turtle Beach PX5 or XP500 are the only ones which meet these specs as they're Vitual and have the Bluetooth mic option. Unless there's another pair I've missed?

I meant a separate bluetooth mic, that way you can have a superior sounding headset whilst still retaining your wireless desire.

Demanding wireless still limits options quite a lot though. There's a few gaming headsets which are wireless etc and are supposed to be ok but still not exactly amazing sound quality. Quality is still pretty much in stereo and via cables.

If I was absolutely looking for wireless stereo headphones I guess I would look at the Sennheiser offerings but obviously you'll have to track down a separate mic.

I got a Turtle Beach PX3 yesterday, just wanted to share my thoughts but didn't want to make a whole new thread.

SQ is fine, wireless range is identical to my old G930 (found those uncomfortable), they sound better for music than the G930.

Comfort is good, only thing I don't like is the stupid long microphone, a removable/retractable microphone would have been better and should have been for the price.

I'm very happy.

The battery life on these is INCREDIBLE, the G930 barely lasted 1 day with a single charge but I have been using these all day yesterday and since 9 am this morning on 1 charge.

I think the tech inside my pro900s is kinda like a surround effect. think they call it s-logic. They're good in game though and for £300 only cost a bit more than the top end 'non hifi' wireless headsets

Ok I am now on my second day of using the PX3 with only a single charge, the battery life is simply incredible.

I'm in love :D
