Hi all,

just wondered if anyone had every modded their pad to replace the rubber thumbsticks? Seen a youtube video of how its done but just wondered if anyone had practically done it who I can get their real opinion of how easy it is to do?

I've added 360 thumb sticks to my ds3 pad in the past. Works really well. Doesn't work with the vanilla ps3 pads though as the holes are different.

The 360 pad is harder to work with imo. The only problems I had with the ps3 pad is when the triggers/shoulder buttons came off. Can be tricky to get back in and working right.

cheers guys, that is a hell of a piece of work from that guy there!

I only want to replace a broken thumbstick with a new one though, do you think that would be easy enough?

Yes, extremely easy.

Unscrew screws > change thumb stick > put back together.

Right. that was the confidence booster post I was after! Thank you :)

Can I ask where did you find the tool to open the 360 pad? my t8 torx hasn't got the little indent on the end of it, and even Toolstation don't sell the "security torx" apparantly!?

my son just did this to his pad. said it was easy.
to match his girl friends room/furniture colors apparently

T10 screw driver, remove 7 screws from the under side.
Remove top casing an just pull on the stick in which you need to remove, some may be a bit stiff but don't worry about any damage as the sticks aren't clued in to position.
I used to airbrush case's and pads, not that hard to take apart but if you want to do a rapid fire an led mod thats different lol.

Torx won't just open it though, need to use a security torx or a flat head. thanks though. nope no need for led or radid fire I just want fresh thumb sticks.
