Really, you shouldn't moan about this, be happy. If he stays fit it will be a massive boost to the team.

Players cost stupid prices these days, it's unfortunate but we have to deal with it.

Because we have so many options going forward now I cannot see how they can all fit into a side and not stunt the development/unsettling others.

And the fact that we're spending £70million or so on this, for an ageing player with a dubious injury record.

IF he stays fit. IF he doesn't, we've blown £24million and £220k per week on him.

It was not the most important position on the pitch to strengthen and it just seems totally mad.

All it does it satisfy the people that wanted a 'big' signing. Kagawa was a fantastic signing, this is just silly.

That's pretty steep for somebody who is seriously injury prone! One thing's for sure, if he stays fit we have the best strike force in the prem!

If he stays fit you still won't have the best strike force in the league, RVP is as good as Aguero, Rooney is not as good as Tevez, Welbeck/Hernandez aren't a patch on Balotelli, nor if he stays, Dzeko. City at the moment without selling have 5 absolutely top strikers, Utd, with RVP, have two. Even if/when City manage to sell 2 of them, they'll have a better strike force.

Fitness won't be an issue.

3 years of a fit RVP at the top of his game/career is worth a hell of a lot more than £20 million.

Goes to City - Win's stuff but doesn't play all the games and is not the focal point of the team that his ego desires!

First part, yes, second part, sorry but where has he let his ego get in the way of his career, at any stage? Did he refuse to train and leave donkeys years ago for a top team? Did he did it this year, or did he merely say he didn't want to sign a new contract?

Just heard this on the radio. Steep.

£24m + 4 years at £220k/week = ~£70m

However, 45mil and potentially a decade longer at the club is obscene, Fergie is a funny funny guy.

On the other hand, can't wait for KDD to come back and tell us all how United are being arrogant if they think they're going to get RVP.
Is that they guy that suggested people were silly for thinking Wenger might be talking out of his ass when he said there was no deal taking place?? :p.

it wouldn't be the £24m that would bother me but if 220k pw is correct that is going to have some really bad knock on effects

I hope Van Persie has a shocker and spends the rest of his career in mediocrity.

There is simply no excuse for the way he has conducted himself recently and what he has done to Arsenal. All those years paying him when he was on the treatment table and in the dock and now this.

He is a scumbag.

We can only hope he does a Torres

Must be awful for Arsenal fans, at least there has been some time to sink in.

No way those wages are true

City have two awesome strikers they can call on. We just had all the pressure on Rooney.

I don't think Welbeck and Hernandez will cut it just yet. It's obviously nice to have a big signing but 4 good years out of him will be absolutely, unquestionably worth it.

Really? What has he done wrong. He's persevered with Arsenal long enough and he's conducted himself reasonably well since releasing his statement. He doesn't have to agree to sign a new contract, you know.

I wonder if Arsenal will go for Llorente?

Yeah and all out of the goodness of their heart, nothing to do with it benefiting them because he's a very good player.

Arsenal stand by **** players as well do they??

Actually yes, they do :p.
