It will be a huge upgrade
Really is worthing getting an SSD next, the difference in performance compared to a hard drive is staggering.
Hi guys and girls, I'm looking for a little advice. I'll save you the background story but needless to say I wish to upgrade what I have and have a budget of £300 max. Based in the UK.
MY current specs are:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Motherboard: Gigabyte M68M-S2P
Ram: DDR2 4GB - 2x 2GB Kingston PC2-5300
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTS450 1GB
PSU: Corsair TX 650w
HDD: 2x 500GB Seagate SATA
I'm running windows 7 64bit ultimate and would like to be able to play some of the newer games, which I'm finding my old CPU it's struggling to do. I also play with a bit of video editing and music creation and general basic coding etc. this is not just my gaming/work rig but also my HTPC so need it to run blu-ray smoothly and ideally optical audio to my receiver.
So with a budget of £300 what would you do?
Thanks
That's the problem with kids, they eat all your spare cash!
So now a case of finding the deals.
i5-3570K -- £174.94
Z77-D3H -- £79.06
GeIL Black Dragon 8GB - Overclockers - £31.19
TOTAL: £285.19
If I can find another £35 saving I can get an SSD too.

So this is they way to go then?
I know this has been advised at the beginning but its good to go through the motions.
All ordered, now its the impatient waiting game for my new bits to arrive.
Tuesday!!
i5-3570K - Someone else - £156.99
Z77-D3H - Someone else - £79.06
GeIL Black Dragon 8GB - Overclockers - £31.19
TOTAL: £267.24
Do we not have 'Karma' or thumbs up or something to say thanks?
