Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse developer Revolution included a full sequel to its futuristic adventure game Beneath a Steel Sky in its Kickstarer stretch goals. Despite falling short of the $1 million needed, the studio is going ahead with the game anyway. Good times for fans of the original indeed.

Develop reports that Revolution co-founder Tony Warriner confirmed that the success of its Broken Sword Kickstarter convinced the team to make the game anyway.

“We’re delighted by the recent level of interest in a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky,” Warriner said, “and are currently discussing design ideas for this project which we plan to go into development following the release of Broken Sword – The Serpent’s Curse. We’re deeply touched that our Steel Sky fans are as enthusiastic today as they were when the original game released in 1994.”

Beneath a Steel Sky 2 will be heading to iOS, Android, PC, Linux and OSX. Develop adds that Revolution is looking into console releases.

Good to hear but to be fair they earned more than enough to do it, their later goals were overambitious targets to encourage people to donate more.

Agreed...

But, least they are using the extra funds they got to make yet another Adventure game... Hopefully they get Steamworks for both these games.. ;)

Beneath a Steel Sky was I reckon one of their better games, sadly forgotten about but seems its about to get a reboot. Play Beneath a Steel Sky on the trusty Amiga back in the day..

Ahhh amazing :D I played through Beneath a steel sky a few years ago since I was too young to appreciate it back in 1994.
Loved every moment of it, immersive and eerily creepy towards the end, I never would've thought to see a sequel to it. Can't wait!

Yeah like it will ever match the original. I never pass marks on a game until it get released and I can actually play it, but damn I doubt this will hit the spot. I wish the devs all the luck in the world, they need it.

What a blast from the past. I had this back then but don't know what happened to it so good to know the original can be downloaded.
