HIS HD 7850 IceQ X 2048MB not running quite so smoothly

You need to make sure your motherboard supports DDR3 also, that's my problem i have to upgrade my processer andm otherboard to get DDR3 ram as mine only supports DDR2

OK now i have mother board GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 in

which had Intel Core I5 CPU 750 267 ghz 266ghz

2 x 4GB DDR3 crucial ballistic sport

i got it all hooked up and first of all had to take CMOS battery out to reset as my friend had previous put password in it. no fun.

loaded windows , then it started playing up and turning itself off and then on. i noticed graphics card wasnt powering up but pc was, so no picture HD didnt sound like up to muhc either though. Ahhh!

graph card fan was powering for half a second then turning off when i watched it as i turned pc on. i know have the old graphics card in and everythign is stable.

No idea whats going wrong. PSU ?

it was stable for a good 20 mins i downloaded drivers for it. and it was fine. then pc started playing up when loaded up dawn of war 2 i think and did performace test in game.

any ideas as to whats gone wrong? and whats stopped my GPU from working ? I'm a novice and in a bit of a panic about this. Do you think my GPU is broken? any advice really appreciated.

heh, my system is
core 2 quad 8400
4gb ddr 2
same card (his 7850 2gb)

the card runs horribly on my system but its better then the 9800gt it replaced.

but ill be sticking an i5 3750k in a couple of weeks so im not to fussed.

did you not install the I-tune thing that comes with the card, its a great little program to play with.

I installed the disk that came with it when it was powering up, but now i have a GPU that doesnt power up.

Dont know if im making this clear or not. My 7850 has stopped working. I get no display on my monitor from it after making the abvoe adjustments. The fan does not pwoer for more than half a second when i turn pc on

Yea still the 450w crappy one. Do you thinks its damaged the GPU? I mean it did have it working for a bit , but power was turning off and on. Now 7850 doesnt power up at all. :( .

Hmm, try disconnecting anything you dont need atm, spare hdd or cd rom. Just to check the power usage.

I dont think you would have broke the 7850 as these things have safety surge things built in.

appreciate the help Phil im going out of my mind , i did this i removed all leads i didn't need. cd/rw , fans so i had the bare minimum power being used. Still no power to GPU.

System loads with picture on moniter with an old Graph card in it.

did have to remove CMOS battery to reset BIOS to get motherboard to work. Could this have stopped the 7850 working?

I dont think taking the cmos battery out would hurt just the graphics card, did your old card need a power connector to it?.

I have a strong feeling its got somthing to do with your psu, if the 7850 was broken i dont think the fan would even bother spinning atall(i know it only spins for a moment before it stops). Do you have a friend with a compatable pc you could test your 7850 in?.

No it was poor, very poor.

I am hearing loud and clear PSU and my own heads sayign PSU as well. If it is the GPU then i'll need a new PSU to know its the GPU then i can return it if it is a bad egg.

I'll collect a Coolermaster 500w fro 30 quid from ******** tomorow (just down the road from work) put that in as like you all say i need to upgrade the PSU either way. Think this should do it 500 w? They have ******** silent gaming ones too for about 50 quid.

I have spent way more than i expected to this month already, otherwise id look at slightly more.
