Korean Grand Prix 2012, Yeongam - Race 16/20

We can talk about where each driver fits in relation to each other until the cows come home, but I think the overal view is that Vettel has not been the best driver this year, and the RBR has not been the best car.

Where they fit exactly and who is better than who is up for debate, but it looks like Vettel and RBR may win the WDC and WCC without being the best in either.

Answer this.
If a driver is not in the best car, but wins the title (on merit, ie. no extraordinary events such and rival drivers being banned or broken limbs)...what does that tell you about the driver?

depends how many dnf's and technical messups hes had compared to his rivals surely

Assuming a normal distribution of good drivers and cars (i.e. not something like HRT have the best car by miles, yet its driven by Dingus and Wingus the crash-tastic special kids), then it means the driver is top notch. It will be the case if Alonso wins this year.

I think it comes down to the fact that F1 success is about more than just the driver.

You need driver(s), car(s) and team working in perfect harmony and, importantly, better than your competition for the majority of the season, to secure a WDC or WCC.

Red Bull gave us a master class in this last season, and McLaren have shown this season that having one of the fastest cars and one of the fastest drivers isn't enough; you need reliability and consistency as well as a little bit of luck every now and then.

Surely, this must apply to Vettel as well, if he wins?

Many people rate Hamilton very highly, but in a better car, he is unable to beat Vettel. This is happening right now.

Are you deliberately trying to be awkward by pretending that Hamilton has finished without a single DNF/team screw up?

Yey another arguement in F1 discussions but-

There is no denying that Vettal is beating Hamilton in points in, on average so far, a slower car. However you do have to consider the other factors of the season such as DNF's and team screw ups. I suppose it depends how you look at it, either Vettel is so mighty he can beat Hamilton in a slower car or Hamilton is so mighty he has had 4 DNF's and a few team screw up's but is only X points behind (can't remember how many it is)

I rate Hamilton and going into any season I would like him to win however this season I do think Alonso should win, his has out performed everyone consitantly in an off the pace car. Unfortunately though I think it is now Vettels to loose now.

Race predictions though, Vettel win, Hamilton 2nd, Perez 3rd.

Nice pic of the drivers there. Had to laugh at this comment on another site about Grosjean - "I bet he's the kind of guy that sticks his elbows out at the table and is always bumping the person next to him."

For a moment there I thought Nico had drawn the short straw and wasn't involved in having any table space.

Then I realised he's the head of the table. lol.

He's out grabbing the ice cream :D

Going up the left then back down, I see:

Glock
Kamui
Riccardo
Hulk?
NFI? Who's the bearded guy?
Lewis
Vergne
Someone with a blue top on
Grosjean
Button
Di Resta
Webber
de la Rosa
Senna
Perez
Vettel
Massa
Nico

Meaning were missing Alonso, Narain, Pic, Heikki, Petrov, Maldonado, Schumacher...
