As per title really.

We are looking for a single number, either Geo or Non Geo that we can publish as part of our contact details on a website.

We want to use a service where the caller leaves a message and it's then e-mailed to us so we can deal with it when we are available.

Any personal recommendations for such services? Details on costs?

Vonage.

Been with them for about 4 years now and they've been nothing but great. It's VoIP so you can choose any Geo number regardless of your base. The number's attached to the box so moving it around keeps the same number regardless of your location. All voicemails are stored online and they've also now introduced a feature which translates the message and emails it you (previously you just received a notification email). It's hit and miss but you usually get the gist of what it's about and is very useful. If the box isn't plugged in or is without internet then it'll just go straight to voicemail.

Oh and it's like £5.99 a month so cheaper than a line rental, and additional virtual numbers can be added for £2.99pm, so you could have say a Birmingham and London number ring through to the same phone.

Drop me a trust if you want and we'll both get 2 months free, though I'd recommend them anyway :).

Cheers Russ, which product is it exactly?

As I say I'm never looking to answer any calls live, merely for the messages to recorded and e-mailed to us.

I work for a small company that sets this type of service up and we can do it for a little cheaper.

If you want to discuss it further feel free to give me a shout even if you decide to go elsewhere I can let you know what is and isn't possible.

So you're the reason I'm stuck with Jonny ///M! You!1!1!! :o

We are looking for a telephone answering service, which is clearly quite different. Need a London number and ability to pass calls through to about 5 of us or send a message. Have found one for £50 a month including 15 calls a day and that charges 10 p per minute for calls connected to our mobiles and 5p to our landlines. Anyone have recommendation which is reliable and more competitive?

Just to follow up I went with www.voipfone.co.uk who provide you with a geo number for £2.40 inc of VAT per month and have free voicemail (including voicemail to e-mail).

I have coupled this with Acrobits on the iphone to receive the calls from the VOIP number.
