Bonfire Stash

Damn but I hate fireworks, smelly, noisy, dangerous and they wake my kids up. About time we banned them from being sold to average Joe. Official licensed events only, keep them out of the hands of chavs.

Have to agree, I'd happily see them banned. Mostly because of how much they effect animals, but also because given how stupid most people are they're a liability having access to them. Should be official events only, on one or two days, not having people setting them off for weeks before and after.

I'm in the "not bothered" camp. I enjoy them if they're part of an event, but won't pay to go to see them. I'd never burn/blow money up as it doesn't interest me, however, I can see the thrill and the appeal that some people may have for hosting their own fireworks parties. :)

I'll probably have a fire. Want to have a good look at my wood?

Yes!

People are missing the point. We set off fireworks to celebrate foiling an assassination plot on our country's king. It's a patriotic event that ought to be celebrated. You can't start putting a price on it and saying ' I don't understand why folk do it, it's burning money'

Err, weren't the plotters doing so because of the persistent, institutionalised intolerance of anybody who wasn't a Protty?

Doesn't seem like much to be proud of to me.

Some nice collection always amazed how much some people spend.

Anyone throw a collection together for £150, even at that price it has to be better than supermarket tat hasn't it? Where you get a hundred fireworks you could safely light on your dining table.

I want the Komodo 3000 used in the funniest Malcolm in the Middle clip which can be watched at

Its not a real firework but it is funny as hell to watch.

I was one of those people that thought you could only get fireworks for a short time, didn't realize that there were shops licensed to sell year round. Kind of tempted to do a little display one random night. Could you do much with £100 though?

Buy a ton's worth of this, light and put your sunglasses on. Like a boss.

I frankly don't give a flying **** about your animal, it's your choice to have one, deal with it!

So some people are stupid with them, mainly chavs and muppets with silly little rockets and bangers, so you should ban all consumer fireworks. You could say the same about cars, motorbikes, air guns, paintball guns, all kitchen knives etc

Get real and now click the back button and don't bother coming back into this thread. It's a thread on fireworks, bonfires and enjoying this great celebration, not for whining little girls crying about fireworks and animals. Start another thread and keep your complaining out of this one.

rather lovely stash

Nice selection you got there. Why can't my neighbours be like this :( Last few years I just haven't had any competition from them. Problem is this year funds are tight so going to be quiet in my area this year :(

That's not to say I won't have any :D

Probably not worth a trip to fireworks crazy. Although a local seasonal has been offering some good stuff the last few years, such as cube, epic and absolute. Which reminds me, still got a few cube ice mines somewhere :D

I am not 100% why every year around here there seems to be a drop in the amount being set off. However I guess its down to prices being pretty high, and people buying rubbish from places like Tescos. Lidl did some good small cheap cakes past 2 years, however this year they seem to have a misfire problem and are breaking too low. Which puts me off them this year.

I like fireworks but they are far too expensive. The supermarket ones are pretty poor and 'proper' ones have silly price tags. Might go to Kenilworth Castle this year, they were always good as a child :D
