Bonfire Stash

I like fireworks but as i get older starting to lose interest, they tend to just go up and bang and do the same thing.

I used to go to a firework shop as a teen in an industrial estate area and get good prices. I used to get blackwidow about the thickness of a permanent marker (match box lighter) bangers. These things would blow up a letter box easy. The best was the cherry bombs with the green string rapped around them. Tehy could easily blow your hand off if you lit it and had a 15cm thick string fuse.

I bought some rockets a few years ago for £15 each, 3 of them. I was very disappointed and kind of put me off buying any more since. But there is some areas you can go in london and watch displays for free.

People are missing the point. We set off fireworks to celebrate foiling an assassination plot on our country's king. It's a patriotic event that ought to be celebrated. You can't start putting a price on it and saying ' I don't understand why folk do it, it's burning money'

If you break down anything in to the component of its parts it becomes illogical. Going on a forum to discuss is just pressing buttons on a keyboard and waiting.....see!

Get yourself to a bonfire or set some off yourself and celebrate Great Britain!

king? you mean parliment -_-

king? you mean parliment -_-

You're joking aren't you

The gunpoweder plot was an assasination attempt on King James I.

Small stash for Sat 10th - all Brothers except for one Absolute. - 22 piece small garden selection box - low noise - for the kids to start - then onto a few bigger pieces to round it out. Only a moderate size garden so all cat 2. Cat 3's I got last year were a bit iffy with the space I have ;-)

I've gone for 54 years hating the things so I don't think I'm ever going to change :)

Really? Your older than me but you must have fond memories of Guy Fawkes night (as it used to be called) back in the 70s?

My dad used to use up all my old clothes and make a Guy.

The body was roughly shaped from old newspapers and then stuffed into socks, trousers, jumpers, and best of all - horrible knitted Balaclavas (knitted earlier in the year by my mam).

We'd then take it to the local squib display and chuck him on the bonfire.

Great fun and loved my dad for it.

Only good memories for me.

The spirit of the event has been lost now sadly.
