***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

It could be that I have been in a dimly lit room for a few hours and it is no longer day time, IE the screens auto-brightness is lower then it was earlier in the day and thus more power efficient.

hmm good point! Most likely why then.

How good is the auto brightness? i.e. does it go right to zero when in a pitch black room and ramp up enough to see it easily in the sunshine but not go to full whack.

I can hear this static as well...not when screen is off.
so dont think it is eating battery...but why android os takes so much of battery ?????

Actually I have been checking this during the day and it seems pretty good, earlier on when I popped out to the shop it went up to about 60%, indoors during the day it was about 30% and right now in a dimly lit room it is at about 5% or even a little less.

I think there is some kind of sleep bug with Google now, try this for me and see how you go. Go into Google now (swipe up from bottom of the screen) and completely turn it off. Then go into 'Backup & restore' in the settings and untick "Backup my data".

See if this helps, it helped mine massively.

In the XDA thread about the ear-piece issues people are saying "All smartphones" phones have low volume static coming from the ear-piece speaker when idle/sleeping, can anyone with a different smartphone test this for me please in a very quiet place and see if other smartphones do have this and we simply never noticed it.

Definitely no buzzing on my iPhone 4, and have never heard any.

And I'm even holding it the way Steve Jobs taught me!

It's not a bug G Now is designed to wake the phone up at set intervals to check what's going on, it's why it spanks the battery.

One sold on Gumtree. Felt guilty when he collected. £475. Shameful

thumbs up! :D

What's the refund policy at the o2 store? 7 or 14 days?

Can you return the top-up credit too?

Auto brightness sounds great

I find the GS 3 too be far too dim and the htc one series to be way too bright :p

SGS3 has adjustable auto brightness now with JB :p

While this is true I had far less battery drain under JellyBean with my SII which is why I think it is waking up the phone far more often then it used too.

According to XDA the earpiece issue was introduced into Android in Jellybean 4.2 and is the result of a linux kernal change or something, apparently it effects all Jellybean 4.2 devices?

This has a high chance to come from the last kernel version ! Anyone using linux may have noticed this from the last kernel update of the sound driver , i think somehow related to the powersaving . It's surely annoying but not a big deal, more software related than a hardware defect.

Anyone with 4.2 on a Galaxy Nexus want to check? :D

I must be getting old. But I much prefer off screen buttons. Without a menu button it just feels wrong and the sound is inferior to the S3 One X imho with current software. As for the 2 gig of ram helping matters, can't say it "feels" any more zippier than my S3 on wanamlite. Great phone for the money no question but I'm gonna struggle with 16 gig. It's poo and there needs to be a 32 gig option or sd for it to be a winner. Screens lovely but amoled blacks and vibrance it has not. Touch screen is A1 responsive and camera's appear to function well if not stella. I'll keep on testing.

I really like the build and feel of the nexus 4.

I have the PadFone 2 here as well which is an interesting comparison as they both have the same processor and ram.

I'm afraid to say that the colours look washed out compared to the padfone add well and that is also LCD. However the extra wideness of those extra 68 pixels meadows a huge difference to the sharpness and amount of information you can get on the display.

The build of the nexus is superior to the PadFone but the overall performance doesn't match the Asus phone.

That PadFone will be even more amazing story Jellybean specially on the tablet dock as right now its rocking old style ICS with the old android tablet style.

Despite sayng that I prefer the nexus for browsing on a phone so far.

As I posted yesterday, despite not receiving a shipping email and my order status (and still today) saying 'delivery estimate 15th' my phone arrived yesterday morning. I've just checked my bank account and it appears as if, like some of those that received the back order email, my money's been refunded.

At least Google's incompetence worked out ok for somebody :D

Just seen my account & also the same has happened for me!

Let's start the day and see where battery will take me ;)

Doesn't look good at the moment as after 13mins off charger and 12 mins screen time, battery is at 96% Lol
It is after its first charge so it may be poor today..
Will see

As for static and android os eating battery, it will be fixed soon if it is a software bug.
