Duchess of Cambridge's nurse has reportedly been found dead

shocking! why would she kill herself? was she told off very harshly or something? just makes no sense :(

I think told off harshly would have only been the start of what id expect was days of meetings, interviews, questioning about how it happened.

they would make anybody feel like ****, who knows what else was going on in her life to add to that

'cause pranks like this and worse are done all over the world this somehow makes this ok? Can't agree with that. It's not an excuse that others do this or others do it worse.

It was a bad prank to play, without any consideration for the result of their actions.

Make a prank call, recipient commits suicide (which is, by the way, currently speculation). Who honestly thinks that is a likely outcome of such a thing? Really? Honestly?

I can see where you're coming from in that she did it most likely as a direct result of the call, but to suggest that blame somehow lies with the DJs because they didn't go through the thought process that somebody would top themselves over it is ****ing ludicrous.

If that's your logic, nobody would ever refuse a homeless person spare change for fear that their 30p could prevent them from dying of hypothermia that night.

Terrible news. I can't understand people defending the radio show. Ok, I admit you wouldn't expect someone to commit suicide over this, but you could expect someone to lose their job, which could very well push someone over the edge.

Suicide isn't a reasonable reaction to a prank call, they aren't to blame.

So? They conducted a mere prank. I wouldn't even have thought she'd be sacked. People have been duped in such a way many times before (John Culshaw ringing up Downing Street and getting through the switchboard, etc).

They conducted a prank. A woman's death wasn't not a reasonably foreseeable result of that, and her death's remote from the original action.

To blame the radio presenters is ridiculous. I'd rather lay the blame, if any, at the door of her superiors if they didn't offer the necessary support... or the journalists who probably tracked her down and camped outside of her house.

Sorry, disagree. Without the prank those two things wouldn't have happened. While I'm sure the pranksters didn't set out to force this woman to feel her only option was to take her own life, it doesn't somehow exonerate themselves from the actions.

Their initial stupid 'prank' was only exhasterbated by the media and I'd like to know how the Palace handled the situation too personally.

Neither do I. If someone is that weak-willed to kill themselves for making a (admittedly high-profile) mistake then I don't see how this can be pinned on the DJs.

That's a little off - and almost ignorant, unless you were trying to get a rise out of people?

So if an employer made someone redundant and they committed suicide you'd blame them?

Belittling what happened here slightly.

This wasn't just a prank call like phoning a pizza for your mates house. This was a prank call that was being aired live to millions of Australians and subsequently the rest of the world.

Unless you know what it's like to have the entire globe laughing at you I'd suggest you stop trying to play amateur psychiatrist.

Prank pizza call to Asda that has been on british TV and radio, this link is from south african radio station that it was played on:

I know the bloke who made the call, no one can believe just how big it went afterwards :D

Now, I don't hear of the Asda phone monkey commiting suicide.

It was highly likely that she would have been sacked. This type of breach of confidentiality is considered most seriously within healthcare. Bearing in mind this related to a member of the Royal Family during huge public scrutiny due to the whole royal pregnancy roadshow, the reputational impact against the hospital would be enormous. Whilst suicide may not have been foreseeable, only a fool would not realise the potentially serious repercussions for the member of staff involved. Whilst they may not be entirely to blame, they are clearly the catalyst that has set this catalogue of events rolling. The remoteness of the outcome from the original act are considerably more close than you appear to be suggesting.

why has my message been deleted? I was getting at the Irony bad omen etc... Free speech and all that.

what with the chronic morning sickness and now this, not having much luck are they?
