Struggling to think of something to get my mum for Christmas, she says she'd like a new game. I know she likes RPG's and has Skyrim, Rift and World of Warcraft but I have absolutely no idea on games like these as I mainly play FPS and racing games.

I can't really get her anything off steam as I know she likes opening presents, having said that she does have a steam account.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys I'll look those up, never considered fallout to be an RPG!

Yeah mum is pretty cool, she's always been in to gaming and has a decent PC and a few consoles, wouldn't believe she's retiring after Christmas, she's looking forward to the extra gaming time :)

The fallout series is probably my fav RPG\FPS of all time.

I'd be amazed if someone who loves Skyrim doesn't love the Fallout series.

There's loads of RPG elements to Fallout, it doesn't feel like a shooter at all, even though you shoot people.

Most people use the VATS system to shoot people as the real time shooting isn't as great as it could be anyway, plus it's great fun to use VATS and watch people's limb's fly off in slow mo while they groan in a disturbing manner.

Fallout is Skyrim with guns. Should be able to pick up both GoTY versions for £30 max all in. Probably 3-400 hours of gameplay there, see her nicely into retirement. :)

Sounds like my Mum :)

I'd go with Fallout too. If she liked Skyrim, you can't beat it really!

Had a scout round on your recommendations and found the following (my budget is about £30)

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition - £10

Fallout 3 GOTY - £7

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition - £15

I know there are newer versions of all these games but I figured they'd still be good and if she liked them I could get her Vegas etc. for mothers day and birthday etc.

What do you guys think?

Worlds coolest mum. I'm enjoying Eve Online at the moment. Incredibly complex but a huge long term time sink. She may like it.

Don't feel too easy about buying her a game where she'll have to pay a Sub and I really need to get her retail games she can unwrap if you know what I mean!

Try KotOR firstly i say, if she get's into that, then go for KotOR 2 and then Dragon Age.

Star Wars is always a good place to start.

Dragon Age is a nice one to go for, perhaps Mass Effects is she likes sci-fi rpgs.

Other than that Witcher 1/2 are good aswell and the Risen games are quite good.

Don't think she's really into Space, Sci Fi or Star Wars settings. From what I've seen her play it's more Middle Earth, Swords and Dungeons. Again I'm commenting on a subject I know next to nothing about!
