Canon 6D or 5DMKIII

I am in need of a new camera as my 500D is getting a little old now

so do I get a

Canon 6D with the 24-105mm f4l IS

or

Canon 5DMKIII body only

both are about the same price and the 24-105 would be handy to have but what do you think

Depending on other glass already acquired. 5D3.
It would help however if people actually stated what they shoot when they start these threads.

Sigma 150-500mm
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6
Canon 18-55mm IS kit
Canon 50mm f1.8
Canon 90-300mm

Poor ISO has taken best part of 50000 shots if not more its not full frame

If you're not going to be shooting fast moving objects, you will probably be okay with the 6D. Some early adopters have had good experiences with it, and its high iso ability is good.

In saying that, might be worth to see if the prices settle first though as the 5D MK III is coming down in price. The 5D MK III will open you up mainly to a nicer AF system.

See your into your HDRs, you got a nice selection of photos. Keep it up

I would go for the 600D because you won't need or won't use much of the high end features of the MKIII but invest in a nice lens for your work.

5d3 has HDR features built in. think the same for the 6d as well

Yeah 500d to 600d wouldn't be a huge upgrade lol

If money wasn't an issue then 5d3 would be my choice. As mentioned though if you think the better low light performance would benefit you more over the better AF then 6d it is!

Yeah but it only does that straight to jpeg though

How many of those lens are ok on FF...... Perhaps update lenses first, then FF body later ?

According to DXO, the ISO quality difference is 0.02 stops in favour of the 6D. This is basically nothing, or at least so small I wouldn't even factor it in the decision.

All my lenses will fit full frame apart from the 18-55mm

Also I think he means it can focus better in low light as well

It's pretty simple really.

IQ on the 6D is arguably equivalent to the mkiii.

The AF system however, is not.

If you need the AF system for your style, get the mkiii... Otherwise you'll probably be ok with the 6D
