I game with a Benq G2420HDBL - which has been fine.
However it is a 60hz refresh, and as I now get up to 90 to 100fps in some games so I need some suggestions for some alternatives for 100/120hz.

Am on a budget - so cheaper the better to get an image quality as the my current screen is all I ask.

Any advise really appreciated.

Can't say I'd consider the XL2420T the best purchase I've made in awhile (I've got one) whilest its very good for gaming the colors are bright but not easy on the eyes definitely dislike using it for prolonged non-gaming stuff.

Ye, I agree with your point with it being bright, but once I tweaked a few things and installed a custom icc profile it was much more pleasing and not so fatiguing with my eyes.

I own the XL2420T and completely agree that the factory colour settings are bordering on insanely bright. I used a colorometer on mine and I am very happy with it now though. It is a big upgrade over my previous 60hz samsung

To help out a noob here, does 144hz really offer a smoother experience over 120hz?
Notably so and worth the £increase?

Tbh, if the monitor costs more than a monitor with 120hz and the only difference is an extra 20hz, i wouldn't say it's worth it. If you've been on 60/75 hz for a few years then 120hz is more than enough to be happy with.

Go for the xl2411t if you want to save cash, if you're into the 3d stuff then go for the 2420t because it has better features for 3d, essentially the 120hz of both the xl24 models are the same minus a few features on the monitor itself.

Who said anything about the £££ increase?

The 144hz 2411t BenQ is the cheapest 120hz+ BenQ, and probably one of the cheapest 120hz monitors you can buy. :D

Yeah, I got a little confused when he said more £££ :D

One important observation: 120Hz plus strobe backlight (e.g. LightBoost) has much less motion blur than 144Hz without a strobe backlight. This can be an important consideration for fast-twitch FPS such as Quake Live, TF2, etc.

It's the same reason why old-time CRT gamers says CRT 75fps@75Hz looks much smoother than LCD 120fps@120Hz (on non-strobe-backlight monitors).
